THE AWARD

Purpose of the award

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation delivers the “Carlos V European Award” on 9 May, on the occasion of Europe Day, during a ceremony presided over by His Majesty the King, at the Royal Monastery of Yuste.

This award honours people, organisations, projects or initiatives that have contributed to the general knowledge and the enhancement of Europe’s cultural and historical values or to the European Union’s process of integration.

The award is granted by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation’s Board of Trustees on the basis of the proposals made by a jury designated for such a purpose and composed of renowned figures from different socio-cultural fields of Europe as well as by members of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste and previous award-winners form previous editions.

Most of the Carlos V European Award’s economic endowment will be allocated for grants and activities named after the winner. The rest of the amount will be given to the winner for whichever purposes he/she deems convenient.
