The twelve apostles of Mexico left the Port of Sanlúcar de Barrameda in January 1524; they were a group of Franciscan friars whose mission, mandated by the Spanish Crown and the Catholic Church, was to evangelise the New World. They arrived in Veracruz, Mexico, almost four months later. The first circumnavigation of the world was an epic adventure full of complications. This is the story told in first person by one of its protagonists: Hernando de Bustamante, who worked as a barber-surgeon on the mission. His voice will guide us on a journey marked by horror and courage, despair and wonder. A journey of some ships and men who wanting to reach the Isle of Spices went around the world proving its roundness.

The author Roberto Massó (Cáceres, 1987) works with narrative and drawing. His latest publications are Cadencia (Fosfatina) and El ruido secreto (Spiderland/snake). He has made several exhibitions nationwide. He received a grant in 2017 for the programme, “Creación Joven”, of the Youth Institute (Injuve) and another one from the Regional Government of Extremadura in 2018 addressed to visual artists.

Borja González is a comic book author and illustrator who was born in Badajoz. He began publishing in various fanzines and later worked as a professional illustrator. He released his first album, La boca del lobo, in 2012. In 2014 he founded the publishing label “El verano del cohete” along with Mayte Alvarado and Rui Díaz. In 2015 he published his second album, Inés Suárez, for the book collection Extremeños en Iberoamérica-Historieta, published by CEXECI. In 2016 he released his third album, La reina Orquídea. Then came The Black Holes (Reservoir Books, 2018), the first part of the trilogy “Las tres noches” In 2021 he released his fourth album, Grito nocturno, edited by Dargaud in the Franco-Belgian market and by Reservoir Books in its Spanish edition.  Thanks to this work, Borja González won the 2023 National Comic Prize, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. This same year he has concluded the trilogy with the publication of El pájaro y la serpiente.
