YUSTE FOUNDATION’S BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVES THE ACTION PLAN FOR 2024 UNDER THE PRESIDENCY OF MARIA GUARDIOLA

The president of the Regional Government of Extremadura, María Guardiola, presided over the meeting held by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation’s Board of Trustees today, where the Action Plan for 2024 was approved. The latter is a programme of activities that intends to further delve into the analysis and knowledge of the European reality, as well as to promote and consolidate the links between Extremadura, Europe and Ibero-America.

Yuste Foundation and the Routes of Charles V Present Three Didactic Guides

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation along with the European Routes of Emperor Charles V, the University of Extremadura and the Plan de Fomento de la Lectura de Extremadura have published the guides Carlos V y La Vera. Proyecto didáctico para aprender descubriendo and Wandering in La Vera: Meditations of An Emperor. Both will be presented next Friday, 8 April at 12:30 pm at Yuste Foundation’s headquarters, which are located in the Royal Monastery of Yuste. The presentation will count with the participation of the mayor of Cuacos de Yuste and treasurer of the Network of the Routes of Emperor Charles V, José María Hernández García; the director-manager of the Network of the Routes of Emperor Charlez V, Quintín Correas Domingo, and two of the authors of the guides and professors of the University of Extremadura, Ramón Pérez Parejo, Ignacio Chato and with the illustrator, Celia Conejero. 

The objective of these editions is to spread the cultural and natural heritage of the region of La Vera among the youth.  They focus especially on the historical experience that the presence of Emperor Charles V entailed during the last years of his life in Jarandilla and Yuste.

The member of the General Council of the Judiciary, Juan Martínez Moya; the director of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno; the dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Seville, Alfonso Castro Sáenz; the professor of the University of Extremadura and co-director of the sessions, Sixto Sánchez-Lauro; the mayor Guadalupe, Felipe Sánchez Barba, and the Guardian and Custodian of the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe, Friar Guillermo Cerrato, have inaugurated the 1st Guadalupe in America Sessions “The Jurist from Guadalupe, Lorenzo Lebrón de Quiñones and His Time: The Forging of New Spain in the 16th Century”, which will take place until tomorrow at the Mudéjar hall of the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised the 1st Guadalupe in America Sessions “The Jurist from Guadalupe, Lorenzo Lebrón de Quiñones and His Time: The Forging of New Spain in the 16th Century”, along with the University of Extremadura, the Municipality of Guadalupe and the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe, which will take place on 4 and 5 April in a mixed format: online and face-to-face in Guadalupe. The Sessions are part of the activities of the event of exceptional public interest known as the Holy Year of Guadalupe 2020-2022

Mexican researcher Clemente Cruz Peralta wins Yuste Foundation’s Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses

The doctoral thesis, El elegido inesperado. Pedro José de Fonte, último arzobispo de la Nueva España, by Mexican researcher Clemente Cruz Peralta, won the II Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses, which is organised by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation. It is a work that recovers the figure of De Fonte, one of those characters that were forgotten, on both sides, in the conflict of the Ibero-American countries’ independence. The prize was delivered at the 2nd International Congress on “Relations between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean: A meeting space”, held on 23, 24 and 25 March at the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Guadalupe.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, the University of Extremadura (UEx) and the Centre for Ibero-American Studies of the Rey Juan Carlos University are holding the II International Congress “Relations Between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe: A Meeting Space” with the collaboration of the Municipality of Guadalupe and the Franciscan Community. The event will take place at the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe on 23, 24 and 25 March.
