Conference: Globalisation crisis? Challenges for the European Union and Ibero-America<\/strong><\/p>\n

2015 and 2016 could well be described as \u201cannus horribilis\u201d in terms of systematic stability: terrorist attacks, economic stagnation and recession; a European Union experiencing an existential crisis; the Brexit and the victory of Donald Trump have been described as \u201cblack swans\u201d: atypical events alien to rational expectations and disruptive, with the capacity to change the course of history and the collective experience. In this sense, these \u201cblack swans\u201d would mark a change in time in terms of chance and symbolism as they stand as historical milestones or watersheds. The post-Cold War stage would end with them, giving way to a more uncertain and unpredictable period where certainties of the past stage cannot be taken for granted, whether this be the rapid growth of China, the anchor of globalisation and the liberal internationalism in the American hegemony, the continuity of the European Union or the soundness of the party systems and of the ruling elites of the western world. With its particular characteristics, the signs of a change of cycle may also be seen in Latin America with the end of the commodities\u2019 bonanza and the political change. This conference will attempt to shed light on these factors of change and particularly on the situation Latin America faces before a new scenario of globalisation crisis or of \u201cpost globalisation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Doctor en Ciencias Pol\u00edticas por la Universidad Complutense y M.A. en Relaciones Internacionales por la Universidad para la Paz de Naciones Unidas. Profesor Titular de relaciones internacionales de la Universidad Complutense (acreditado Catedr\u00e1tico de Universidad), e investigador del Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (ICEI), donde dirige el \u00e1rea de Relaciones internacionales, cooperaci\u00f3n al desarrollo y gobernanza global. Ha trabajado para la Agencia Espa\u00f1ola de Cooperaci\u00f3n Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) y la Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de Cruz Roja, y ha sido investigador o consultor de la Comisi\u00f3n y el Parlamento Europeo, el PNUD, SEGIB, la Fundaci\u00f3n Carolina, la Fundaci\u00f3n EU-LAC, y distintas ONG. En dos periodos distintos ha sido Vocal Experto del Consejo de Cooperaci\u00f3n al Desarrollo. \u00a0Vicepresidente de la Red Espa\u00f1ola de Estudios de Desarrollo (REEDES), miembro del Comit\u00e9 cient\u00edfico de honor de la Coordinadora Regional de Investigaciones Econ\u00f3micas y Sociales (CRIES), y del Patronato de Oxfam Interm\u00f3n.
