The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0Extremadura Hist\u00f3rica Federation\u00a0<\/strong>call for the International Congress \u201cHern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s en el siglo XXI.\u00a0V Centenario de la llegada de Cort\u00e9s a M\u00e9jico\u201d (\u201cHern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s in the 21st<\/sup>\u00a0Century.\u00a05th<\/sup>\u00a0Centenary Since the Arrival of Cort\u00e9s in Mexico\u201d), which intends to commemorate the arrival of Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s in Mexico and will take place from the 4th<\/sup>\u00a0to the 6th<\/sup>\u00a0of April 2019 in Medell\u00edn and Trujillo (Extremadura, Spain).<\/p>\n

The objectives of the Congress are:<\/p>\n

– To delve into the historical research on Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s in the context of the 16th<\/sup>\u00a0century.<\/p>\n

– To disclose the historical transcendence of Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s from the stand of scientific knowledge and his polyhedral personality.<\/p>\n

– To contribute to eradicate the black legend and the consequential \u201chistorical guilt complex\u201d related to the Mexica Empire\u2019s colonisation and conquest.<\/p>\n

– To value and disclose the worthy historical, social, cultural and economic legacy that Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s\u2019 colonising work left Modernity.<\/p>\n
