The twelve apostles of Mexico left the Port of Sanl\u00facar de Barrameda in January 1524; they were a group of Franciscan friars whose mission, mandated by the Spanish Crown and the Catholic Church, was to evangelise the New World. They arrived in Veracruz, Mexico, almost four months later. Their adventure was not free of danger or vicissitudes, but their determination and conviction that the Indians were also children of God, helped them to overcome these obstacles.<\/p>\n

En enero de 1524 partieron del puerto de Sanl\u00facar de Barrameda los Doce Ap\u00f3stoles de M\u00e9xico, un grupo de frailes franciscanos con la misi\u00f3n, encomendada por la Corona espa\u00f1ola y la Iglesia Cat\u00f3lica de evangelizar el Nuevo Mundo. Arribaron a Veracruz, en M\u00e9xico, casi cuatro meses despu\u00e9s. Su aventura no estuvo exenta de peligros y vicisitudes, pero sobre todas ellas triunf\u00f3 su entrega y su convencimiento de que los indios tambi\u00e9n eran hijos de Dios.<\/p><\/div>
