The University of Salamanca, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the University Institute for European Studies of the San Pablo-CEU University will hold the closing session of the International Congress \u201cCharles V, Vitoria and Erasmus in Yuste\u201d on Friday, 8 June, at 12:00 pm, at the University of Extremadura under the presidency of His Majesty the King.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Rectors of the University of Extremadura, the University of Salamanca and of the San Pablo-CEU University will also attend the event and the keynote address will be delivered by the historian Fernando Garc\u00eda de Cortazar, winner of the National History Prize in 2008.<\/p>\n

The conclusions of the congress, on the other hand, will be presented by Marcelino Oreja Aguirre, President of the University Institute for European Studies of the CEU, member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste and alumni of the University of Salamanca.<\/p>\n

This event closes the works exposed by twenty experts, notable among them are academicians, jurists, historians and philosophers, who will participate in the congress held from the 6th to the 7th of June, where the ideas deriving from the School of Salamanca will be studied and how these, along with Erasmus\u2019 humanism and the changes of the Reformation, influenced Charles V\u2019s policy.<\/p>\n

Europe\u2019s roots may be traced through the paths that join Aachen, Salamanca and Yuste and it is through the latter that they are spread throughout America.<\/p>\n

Charles V is the cornerstone of this incipient idea of Europe and it thus brings along great subjects of International Law, such as free movement, just war and the acknowledgement of the other\u2019s individuality, which are discussed and applied in imperial politics.<\/p>\n

This event intends to highlight the importance of the Spanish crown and of the thinkers of the School of Salamanca regarding these subjects, which were and are essential to Europe and the world. For further information on this International Congress please visit:<\/p>\n

La Universidad de Salamanca, la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste y el Instituto Universitario de Estudios Europeos de la Universidad CEU San Pablo celebrar\u00e1n el pr\u00f3ximo viernes, d\u00eda 8, a las 12:00 horas, el acto de clausura del Congreso Internacional \u2018Carlos V, Vitoria y Erasmo en Yuste\u2019, que tendr\u00e1 lugar en la Universidad de Extremadura (C\u00e1ceres) bajo la presidencia de Su Majestad el Rey.<\/strong><\/p>

En el evento tambi\u00e9n estar\u00e1n presentes los rectores de la Universidad de Extremadura, de la Universidad de Salamanca y de la Universidad CEU San Pablo y el historiador Fernando Garc\u00eda de Cort\u00e1zar,\u00a0Premio Nacional de Historia 2008, impartir\u00e1 la conferencia magistral.<\/p>

Por su parte, las conclusiones del congreso ser\u00e1n expuestas por Marcelino Oreja Aguirre, presidente del Instituto Universitario de Estudios Europeos del CEU, miembro de la Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste y\u00a0alumni <\/i>de la Universidad de Salamanca.<\/p>

Con este acto concluir\u00e1n los trabajos realizados por una\u00a0veintena de expertos, entre los que destacan acad\u00e9micos, juristas, historiadores y fil\u00f3sofos, que participar\u00e1n en este congreso, que tendr\u00e1 lugar del 6 al 8 de junio, en el que se estudiar\u00e1n las ideas que proven\u00edan de la Escuela de Salamanca y c\u00f3mo estas, junto con el humanismo de Erasmo y los cambios de la Reforma, influyeron en la pol\u00edtica de Carlos V.<\/p>

Las ra\u00edces de Europa pueden seguirse a trav\u00e9s de los caminos que unen Aquisgr\u00e1n, Salamanca y Yuste, y a trav\u00e9s de esta \u00faltima se propagan por Am\u00e9rica.<\/p>

Carlos V es la clave de b\u00f3veda de esta incipiente idea de Europa, y con ella los grandes temas del Derecho Internacional como la libre circulaci\u00f3n, la guerra justa y el reconocimiento de la individualidad del otro, se discuten y aplican en la pol\u00edtica imperial.<\/p>

Este evento pretende destacar la importancia de la corona espa\u00f1ola y de los pensadores de la Escuela de Salamanca en estos temas, que fueron y son esenciales para Europa y el\u00a0mundo.
