Exposiciones de arte latinoamericano en el Estado espa\u00f1ol (1989-2010)<\/em> by Francisco Godoy Vega in the bookstore La Central of the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The Director and the Academic Director of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno and C\u00e9sar Chaparro, respectively, participated in the presentation as did the professor of contemporary art at the Autonomous University of Madrid and author of the prologue, Jes\u00fas Carrillo; the person in charge of programming the Artistic Residences Centre (Matadero, Madrid), Manuela Villa, and the author.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This work covers Latin American exhibitions carried out in Spain from 1989 to 2010. In this sense, the author points out that \u201cthis research situates itself within the history of the exhibitions, which allows a review of Latin American art read from the perspective of the bias of curatorial and political relations between Latin America and the Spanish State\u201d.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This publication is the result of the doctoral thesis defended by Godoy Vega at the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2015, winner of the 3rd Research Prize to Doctoral Theses \u201cFernando Mangas\u201d; a call launched by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">C\u00e9sar Chaparro claimed that the subject of this research \u201cis related in its own way to other areas dealt with by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation as is the realisation of exhibitions and art exhibitions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This book is volume 2 of the Doctoral Theses Collection included in the in the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation\u2019s editorial initiative, which aims at publishing studies that may contribute to reinforce the ties at each side of the Atlantic, fostering cultural and academic cooperation while collaborating to boost literary and scientific creations in an Ibero-American context.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">In this sense, Chaparro highlighted the fact that with such collections and publications Yuste Foundation indubitably contributes to the development of culture \u201cunderstood as the cropping of great values that serve as oxygen to our lives is a process of aspiration and expiration inspired by permanent dialogue\u201d.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Through archive research and interviewing curators, artists and cultural managers, the book makes a criticism of Eurocentric thinking, analysing the different readings concerning Latin American art through exhibitions carried out in the Spanish State during the last decades. From an anticolonial perspective, <em>La exposici\u00f3n como recolonizaci\u00f3n<\/em> carries out a geopolitical study of the relations that the Spanish art system establishes with its former colonies and it deals with the symbolic, political and economic connotations within the curatorial projects analysed.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Professor Juan Carrillo points out in the prologue that Francisco Godoy\u2019s work \u201cis a deep immersion in the ways national and transnational identities are created in the context of globalisation; its colonial foundations and the role that art, exhibitions and institutions have had in those processes\u201d. Carrillo stresses that this research has a dual value because \u201cit provides a deep knowledge of processes that have contributed to make up the current art system and, on the other hand, displays a power of judgement from the standpoint of colonial criticism that expands the scope of intervention in the contemporary scene\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>About the author<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Francisco Godoy Vega\u00a0(Santiago, Chile, 1983). Chilean curator, teacher and poet residing in Madrid. He has worked as a professor in the Department of History and Theory of Art of the UAM (2015-2017) and has been a researcher at the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum (2009-2011, 2014-2016). Exposiciones de arte latinoamericano en el Estado espa\u00f1ol (1989-2010)\u2019,\u00a0de Francisco Godoy Vega.<\/p><p>En la presentaci\u00f3n han participado el director y el director acad\u00e9mico de la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste, Juan Carlos Moreno y C\u00e9sar Chaparro, respectivamente; el profesor titular de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo de la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid y autor del pr\u00f3logo, Jes\u00fas Carrillo; la responsable de programaci\u00f3n del Centro de Residencias Art\u00edsticas (Matadero Madrid), Manuela Villa, adem\u00e1s del autor del libro.<\/p><p>Esta obra recorre las exposiciones latinoamericanas realizadas en Espa\u00f1a entre 1989 y el a\u00f1o 2010. En esta l\u00ednea el autor se\u00f1ala que \u201cesta investigaci\u00f3n se sit\u00faa dentro de la historia de las exposiciones, lo que permite construir un repaso por la historia del arte latinoamericano le\u00eddo desde el sesgo de las relaciones curatoriales y pol\u00edticas entre Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Estado espa\u00f1ol\u201d.<\/p><p>Esta publicaci\u00f3n es el resultado de la tesis\u00a0doctoral defendida por Godoy Vega en la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid en 2015, ganadora del\u00a0III Premio de Investigaci\u00f3n a Tesis Doctorales \u201cFernando Serrano Mangas\u201d, que convoca la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste.<\/p><p>C\u00e9sar Chaparro ha se\u00f1alado que la tem\u00e1tica de esta investigaci\u00f3n \u201centronca de manera propia con otra de las vertientes de la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste como es la realizaci\u00f3n de exposiciones y muestras de arte\u201d.<\/p><p>Este libro es el volumen n\u00famero 2 de la Colecci\u00f3n Tesis Doctorales, incardinada en la iniciativa editorial de la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste, que tiene el objetivo de publicar estudios que contribuyan a reforzar los lazos a ambos lados del Atl\u00e1ntico, propiciando una cooperaci\u00f3n cultural y acad\u00e9mica y colaborando a su vez al impulso de las creaciones literarias y cient\u00edficas relacionadas con el entorno iberoamericano.<\/p><p>En este sentido, Chaparro ha destacado que con colecciones y publicaciones como estas, la Fundaci\u00f3n Yuste contribuye fehacientemente al desarrollo de la cultura, \u201centendida esta como el cultivo de los grandes valores que sirven de ox\u00edgeno a nuestras vidas en un proceso de aspiraci\u00f3n y expiraci\u00f3n inspirado por el di\u00e1logo permanente\u201d.<\/p><p>A trav\u00e9s de la investigaci\u00f3n de archivos y entrevistas a comisarios, artistas y gestores culturales, el libro plantea una\u00a0cr\u00edtica al pensamiento euroc\u00e9ntrico\u00a0analizando las lecturas que\u00a0se han hecho\u00a0sobre el arte latinoamericano\u00a0a trav\u00e9s de exposiciones presentadas en el Estado espa\u00f1ol las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas. Desde una perspectiva\u00a0anticolonial\u00a0<i>\u2018<\/i><em>La exposici\u00f3n como recolonizaci\u00f3n\u2019<\/em>\u00a0realiza un estudio geopol\u00edtico de las relaciones que el sistema del arte espa\u00f1ol establece con sus excolonias, as\u00ed como discute las connotaciones simb\u00f3licas,\u00a0pol\u00edticas y econ\u00f3micas que\u00a0est\u00e1n detr\u00e1s de los proyectos curatoriales analizados.<\/p><p>El profesor Jes\u00fas Carrillo se\u00f1ala en el pr\u00f3logo que el trabajo de Francisco Godoy \u201ces una profunda inmersi\u00f3n en los modos en que se construyen las identidades nacionales y transnacionales en la globalizaci\u00f3n, sus fundamentos coloniales y el rol que el arte, las exposiciones y las instituciones han tenido en esos procesos\u201d.
