The 7th<\/sup> Training Academy of European Cultural Routes of the European Council closed today having gathered approximately 70 people from 16 countries that represent 20 certified routes -as European Cultural Routes- as well as 20 candidate routes and other organisations, such as the Organization of Ibero-American States (OIS) together during three days at the Royal Monastery of Yuste, making up a total of 16 European and Ibero-American countries.<\/p>\n The President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez Vara, participated in the closure assuring that tourism growth potential in the region is closely linked to culture as far as heritage and cultural activity events are concerned.<\/p>\n The head of the autonomous Executive pointed out Extremadura as a land that has made tourism an important part of its economy, stressing that tourist activity was initiated in the region \u201cby means of culture\u201d. Fern\u00e1ndez Vara highlighted that besides the cultural attractiveness of the region \u201cwe have powerful products, such as our nature, heritage and gastronomy which is accompanied by new ideas, such as ornithological tourism or tourism related to astronomy\u201d.<\/p>\n The Director of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno, assured that the words \u201croutes, culture and Europe\u201d have been keywords during these three days due to their meaning as far as European construction is concerned. On the one hand, the Director of the Foundation said that \u201cbeing acquainted with the culture of other countries and other forms of living is the best solution to the exclusionary nationalisms of other countries that are a menace to Europe\u201d. On the other hand, the Director of the Foundation claimed this asset to be \u201cpeople\u2019s fundamental right \u201c, rejecting the fact that at times of crisis this is one of the \u201cfirst unnecessary goods that are thrown out of the window\u201d. According to him, culture cannot be the first burden to be thrown out of the boat when it threatens to sink, because \u201cculture is not a luxury; it is a need\u201d.<\/p>\n As for the role played by Europe, Moreno Pi\u00f1ero defended the balancing role it has in the international concert, \u201ccohesive in diversity, respectful in discrepancy, integrating with disability and firm in the preservation of its traditional and imperishable values: democracy, liberty, equality and solidarity\u201d.<\/p>\n To conclude, the Director of the Foundation highlighted the need for the Cultural Routes to include Latin America and in this task, he said \u201cyou may count with the loyal collaboration of this Foundation which is European as well as Ibero-American\u201d.<\/p>\n The Training Academy is the most important annual event organised by the Network of the European Routes of Emperor Charles V and the European Institute of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in collaboration with the Regional Government of Extremadura, the Province Council of C\u00e1ceres, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, the Assembly of Extremadura and National clausurado la VII edici\u00f3n de la Training Academy de las Rutas Culturales del Consejo de Europa que, durante tres d\u00edas, ha reunido en el Real Monasterio de Yuste a unas setenta personas de 16 pa\u00edses que representaban a 20 rutas certificadas como Itinerario Cultural Europeo, as\u00ed como a 20 rutas candidatas, adem\u00e1s de otras organizaciones como la Organizaci\u00f3n de Estados Iberoamericanos (OEI), lo que ha supuesto 16 pa\u00edses europeos e iberoamericanos.<\/p> En la clausura ha intervenido el presidente de la Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez Vara, que ha asegurado que el potencial de crecimiento tur\u00edstico en la regi\u00f3n est\u00e1 estrechamente ligado a la cultura, tanto patrimonial como de eventos vinculados a la actividad cultural.<\/p> El jefe del Ejecutivo auton\u00f3mico ha se\u00f1alado a Extremadura como una tierra que ha conseguido que el turismo suponga una parte importante de su econom\u00eda, subrayando que la actividad tur\u00edstica se inici\u00f3 en la regi\u00f3n \u201cde la mano de la cultura\u201d. Fern\u00e1ndez Vara ha destacado que adem\u00e1s del atractivo cultural, \u201ctenemos productos potentes como son nuestra naturaleza, nuestro patrimonio y nuestra gastronom\u00eda y lo vamos acompa\u00f1ando con nuevas ideas como el turismo ornitol\u00f3gico o el relacionado con la astronom\u00eda\u201d.<\/p> Por su parte, el director de la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste, Juan Carlos Moreno, ha afirmado que las palabras \u201crutas, cultura y Europa\u201d han sido clave durante estos tres d\u00edas por el sentido que tienen para la construcci\u00f3n europea. Por una parte, el director de la Fundaci\u00f3n ha dichoque \u201cconocer la cultura de otros pa\u00edses y otros modos de vivir son el mejor remedio contra los nacionalismos excluyentes que amenazan a Europa\u201d. En cuanto a la cultura, el director de la Fundaci\u00f3n, ha reivindicado este bien como \u201cun derecho fundamental de las personas\u201d, rechazando que en momentos de crisis sea uno de los \u201cprimeros bienes innecesarios que arrojamos por la ventana\u201d.
