The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation offers ten \u201cCarlos V European Award European Research and Mobility Grants for European Studies\u201d in order to carry out research work on \u201cThe European project\u2019s modernisation and governance in a plural framework with shared values and goals\u201d. The grants deal with European history, memory and integration, where the framework and priority is the profile of the awarded person, institution, project or initiative in each edition with the Carlos V European Award. Those eligible for one of the grants may propose innovative research lines referring to the main subject of the call, bearing in mind the specific and cross-sectional priorities of the call.<\/p>\n
The main aim of the grant, worth 2.500 EUR each, is to cover the study and documentary research costs in the European field for the preparation of the contributions that should be submitted in the framework of the Carlos V European Award Doctoral Seminar of Multi-disciplinary Studies on Contemporary Europe; the development of research work carried out in the framework of the call which shall later be published in a joint work by Yuste Foundation; the mobility of researchers in order to carry out their research work and participate in the doctoral seminar where they will present their work and, finally, their attendance to the presentation of the research publication.<\/p>\n
In order to be eligible for one of the grants, candidates should be nationals of a Member country of the European Union, of one of the countries belonging to the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), of the European Economic Area (EEA), of candidate countries for accession to the European Union, from South-Eastern Europe, from Eastern Europe and Caucasus, from Mediterranean partner countries or Latin American countries. They should, furthermore, be enrolled in a doctoral study programme of a university of the admitted eligible countries in this call and be in the preparation stage of the doctoral thesis in the field of History, Political Sciences, Economics, Law and other disciplines of Human and Social Sciences, as well as other branches of science, on a subject related to the object and orientation established in the call; it is necessary to prove knowledge of English or Spanish, having a B2 level or higher in case neither of them were the candidate\u2019s mother tongue.<\/p>\n
The deadline for submission of applications is 22 August inclusive<\/strong>. The procedure for the concession of the offered grants is competitive concurrence and public call, following the assessment criteria established in the call. The maximum period for the resolution of the procedure shall be notified individually to each candidate in a maximum period of 3 months from the day following the deadline for the submission of applications. Once the deadline has been reached and no information is received, it is understood that the application has been rejected.<\/p>\n Applications and the annex documentation shall be submitted via electronic means, completing the digital form published in the website: https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/en\/the-european-carlos-v-award\/becas-premio-europeo-carlos-v\/<\/span> <\/a>\u00a0and submitting the required documentation to the following email: becas@fundacionyuste.org<\/a> or physically at the Royal Monastery of Yuste or via Post Offices.<\/p>\n Carlos V European Award Grants<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>In the 11th edition, the Jury of the Carlos V European Award delivered the prize to Marcelino Oreja Aguirre, acknowledging \u201chis contribution to the European process of construction and integration during a lifetime from the different positions he has held; in national as well as in European organisations, as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Spanish Kingdom, as Secretary General of the Council of Europe and as European Commissioner or Member of the European Parliament, among others. His contributions in the academic field and in the civil society have, likewise been active and fruitful. His tireless work to foster the idea of Europe and the aggrandizement of European values should also be highlighted, especially those related to European cultural diversity and the protection of Human Rights\u201d.<\/p>\n During the Carlos V Award ceremony on 9 May -Europe Day- the winner of the prize described the important stages and progress made in the process of European integration since the beginning of its course almost 70 years ago with Schumann\u2019s Declaration until present day, when the Treaty of Lisbon has been signed. Oreja Aguirre recalled the delicate and crucial task which was the reason for the creation of Europe: to foster peace, democracy, development, prosperity, liberty, justice, equality, the rule of law, respect for human rights, human dignity, security, unity among the Member States and the welfare of its citizens. Adem\u00e1s, deben estar matriculados en el programa de estudios doctorales de alguna universidad de los pa\u00edses admitidos como elegibles en esta convocatoria y encontrarse en la fase de preparaci\u00f3n de la tesis doctoral en Historia, Ciencias Pol\u00edticas, Econom\u00eda, Derecho, y otras disciplinas de las Ciencias Humanas y Sociales, as\u00ed como otras ramas de la ciencia, sobre un tema relacionado con el objeto y orientaci\u00f3n establecidas en la convocatoria; y es necesario acreditar el conocimiento de ingl\u00e9s o espa\u00f1ol con un nivel igual o superior al B2 en caso de que ninguna de estas lenguas sea materna.<\/p> El plazo de presentaci\u00f3n de solicitudes ser\u00e1 hasta el d\u00eda 22 de agosto inclusive. El procedimiento para la concesi\u00f3n de las becas ofertadas es el de concurrencia competitiva y convocatoria p\u00fablica siguiendo los criterios de valoraci\u00f3n establecidos en la convocatoria. Merece destacarse igualmente su incansable labor de fomento de la idea de Europa y del engrandecimiento de los valores europeos, especialmente los relacionados con la diversidad cultural europea y la protecci\u00f3n de los Derechos Humanos\u201d.<\/p> En la ceremonia de entrega del Premio Europeo Carlos V el pasado 9 de mayo, D\u00eda de Europa, el galardonado describ\u00eda los importantes avances y etapas realizados en el proceso de integraci\u00f3n europea desde el comienzo de su andadura hace casi 70 a\u00f1os con la Declaraci\u00f3n de Schumann, hasta llegar al d\u00eda de hoy con la firma del Tratado de Lisboa. Oreja Aguirre record\u00f3 la delicada y crucial tarea para la que se cre\u00f3 Europa: promover la paz, la democracia, el desarrollo, la prosperidad, la libertad, la justicia, la igualdad, el estado de derecho, el respeto a los derechos humanos, la dignidad humana, la seguridad, la unidad entre los estaos miembros y el bienestar de sus ciudadanos. La Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste oferta diez \u2018Becas Europeas de Investigaci\u00f3n y Movilidad en Estudios Europeos-Premio Europeo Carlos V Marcelino Oreja\u2019 para la elaboraci\u00f3n de trabajos de investigaci\u00f3n con el tema \u2018La modernizaci\u00f3n y gobernanza del proyecto europeo en un marco plural con valores y objetivos compartidos\u201d. Las becas versan sobre la historia, memoria e integraci\u00f3n europea tomando como marco y prioridad el perfil de la persona, instituci\u00f3n, proyecto e iniciativa galardonada en cada edici\u00f3n con el Premio Europeo Carlos V. Las personas que opten a una de las becas pueden proponer l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n innovadoras respecto al tema principal teniendo en cuenta las prioridades espec\u00edficas y trasversales de la convocatoria.<\/p>
