\nThe European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation launches the 4th<\/sup> Research Prize to Doctoral Theses \u201cFernando Serrano Mangas\u201d in order to foster and support scientific creations related with the European and Ibero-American field, as stated in today\u2019s Official Journal of Extremadura (DOE) of 16 August 2018.<\/p>\n Theses read in Spain, Portugal as well as in any other Ibero-American or European country that cover the relations between Spain and\/or Portugal with Ibero-America or Europe and vice versa, from a historical, cultural, social, scientific, economical or from any other field of study, are eligible\u00a0to compete\u00a0for the\u00a0prize.<\/p>\n This research prize consists in the publication of the awarded doctoral thesis in the \u201cDoctoral Theses Book Collection\u201d with the aim of supporting the development of research works, while fostering university students and professionals\u2019 exchange of ideas regarding Ibero-American and European subjects.<\/p>\n The Research Prize to Doctoral Theses \u201cFernando Serrano Mangas\u201d is named after the deceased professor of American History at the University of Extremadura, Fernando Serrano Mangas (1954-2015), advisor of the Foundation and an expert historian in underwater archaeology and international authority regarding the topic of the so-called “Carrera de las\u00a0Indias”.<\/p>\n REQUIREMENTS AND ASSESSMENT CRITERIA<\/p>\n Among the requirements that should be met by the doctoral theses that compete for this award are that they should be written in Spanish, English or Portuguese; have unanimously obtained the highest grade established in the existing rule when it was read, and have been read during any of the two years before the present call was published.<\/p>\n The criteria to be considered by the assessment commission to award the prize will be based on the literary quality of the thesis; the appropriateness of the language employed; the creativity conveyed, and on the originality of its approach. As\u00ed se recoge en el anuncio publicado en el Diario Oficial de Extremadura (DOE) de hoy jueves, 16 de agosto.<\/strong><\/p> Podr\u00e1n concurrir a este premio las tesis le\u00eddas en Espa\u00f1a, Portugal, as\u00ed como en cualquier pa\u00eds iberoamericano o europeo, que aborden las relaciones entre Espa\u00f1a y\/o Portugal con Am\u00e9rica Latina o Europa, y viceversa, desde una perspectiva hist\u00f3rica, cultural, social, cient\u00edfica, econ\u00f3mica o desde cualquier otro \u00e1mbito de estudio.<\/p> Este premio de investigaci\u00f3n consistir\u00e1 en la publicaci\u00f3n de la tesis doctoral que resulte premiada en \u2018La Colecci\u00f3n de Libros Tesis Doctorales\u2019, con el objetivo de apoyar el desarrollo de los trabajos de investigaci\u00f3n, fomentando a su vez la reflexi\u00f3n y el intercambio de ideas de los universitarios investigadores y profesionales sobre tem\u00e1ticas iberoamericanas y europeas.<\/p> El Premio de Investigaci\u00f3n a Tesis Doctorales \u2018Fernando Serrano Mangas\u2019 adopta el nombre del fallecido profesor de Historia de Am\u00e9rica de la Universidad de Extremadura Fernando Serrano Mangas (1954-2015), asesor de la Fundaci\u00f3n e historiador experto en arqueolog\u00eda subacu\u00e1tica y autoridad internacional en la tem\u00e1tica de la Carrera de Indias.<\/p> REQUISITOS Y CRITERIOS DE VALORACI\u00d3N<\/b><\/p> Entre los requisitos que deben cumplir las tesis doctorales que concurran al premio se encuentran el estar escritas en castellano, ingl\u00e9s o portugu\u00e9s; haber obtenido, por unanimidad, la m\u00e1xima calificaci\u00f3n establecida en la norma vigente en el momento de su lectura; y haber sido le\u00eddas en alguno de los dos a\u00f1os anteriores a la publicaci\u00f3n de la correspondiente convocatoria.<\/p> Los criterios que la comisi\u00f3n de valoraci\u00f3n tendr\u00e1 en cuenta para adjudicar el premio se basar\u00e1n en la calidad literaria de la tesis, que muestre una preocupaci\u00f3n por el lenguaje, y que sea creativa y original en el tratamiento.<\/p> Por otro lado, se tendr\u00e1 en cuenta la calidad cient\u00edfica, la novedad de los resultados alcanzados y la solidez de los argumentos utilizados en la demostraci\u00f3n de las hip\u00f3tesis propuestas; as\u00ed como la coherencia y sistematicidad de la argumentaci\u00f3n en la redacci\u00f3n del texto, la pertinencia de las fuentes bibliogr\u00e1ficas y la actualizaci\u00f3n de las mismas.<\/p> PLAZO DE PRESENTACI\u00d3N<\/b><\/p> Los interesados tienen de plazo hasta el 12 noviembre para presentar sus solicitudes.
