The European and Ibero-American Academy Foundation opens the cycle of Concerts of the Emperor with a programme of renaissance music from Spain and Portugal that will be held on Saturday, 18th, at 1.00 p.m., in the church of the Royal Monastery of Yuste.<\/p>\n

The concert, organised in collaboration with National Heritage (Patrimonio Nacional) and which forms part of the programme of activities of the Routes of Emperor Charles V of the Council of Europe, will be performed by Capella Ib\u00e9rica, a professional group specialising in early music that performs a wide a capella repertoire and is essentially centred on Renaissance polyphony of Spain and surrounding countries.<\/p>\n

The group will perform the programme called ‘Invisible Frontier’, that immerses us in the schools of great polyphonic masters of Spain and Portugal such as Juan V\u00e1squez, from Badajoz; Francisco Guerrero and Crist\u00f3bal de Morales, from Sevilla; Juan Esquivel de Barahona, from Salamanca, and Manoel Mendes, from Lisbon, among others.<\/p>\n

Capella Ib\u00e9rica made its official presentation in the Satellite Cycles belonging to the season of concerts of the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain (OCNE) and participated in the recording of a documentary on historical music in the Iberian Peninsula for the Arab channel Al Jazeera, in addition to the Cultural Autumn of Zamora.<\/p>\n

NEXT APPOINTMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The European Academy of Yuste Foundation began in 1997 a series of concerts with the purpose of \u201cestablishing in Extremadura a musical cycle related to the time of Charles V\u201d, claiming in this way the European cultural heritage and its history as the main driver of the construction process and European integration.<\/p>\n

The next concert will take place on 21 September on the occasion of the death of Charles V, and will be conducted by the group ‘Chamber Antiqva\u00b4 and 6 October, with the performance of ‘Singer Pur’.<\/p>\n
