This visit is framed within the project \u201cLa Uni\u00f3n Europea: un largo camino hacia la paz y la convivencia\u201d (\u201cThe European Union: a long way towards peace and coexistence\u201d), carried out by Yuste Foundation, the City Council of Navalmoral and CEPAIM Foundation. The Foundation collaborated with the City Council of Navalmoral de la Mata in a project on drug prevention for seven years. Since 2017 the project has undergone a shift and now focuses on the Foundation\u2019s main aims, as for instance the reinforcement of European integration through the promotion of the active citizenship, culture, social policy, training and research, as well as the promotion of debate on European construction and the promotion of European values.<\/p>\n

Students and teachers visited the Palace of Emperor Charles V in order to see the last retreat of the last emperor; they were told anecdotes of the monarch and some details about the architectural and patrimonial heritage. The students then visited the premises of the Foundation in order to attend the talk given by one of the staff members of the Foundation. The main aim is to teach the children, in broad terms, the origin, history and the construction and integration process of Europe; offer them first-hand information on human rights and behaviour standards extrapolable to each country of the Union and to the rest of the world. The European Union was founded with the desire to end the frequent conflicts between the neighbours that had culminated in the Second World War. The first step towards an economic and political union of the European countries to achieve lasting peace was taken when the European Coal and Steel Community was created.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
