Some thirty students from several Spanish and Portuguese provinces have enrolled themselves in the research colloquium-seminar \u201cCarlos V y la Orden de Malta\u201d (\u201cCharles V and the Order of Malta\u201d) that will take place on the 3rd<\/sup> and 4th<\/sup> of October, at the Royal Monastery of Yuste. Regarding students, 90 percent of them hold higher education certificates, where the majority are art historians, lawyers, teachers and economists.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The course is included in the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation\u2019s Campus Yuste programme and is directed by the university professor of Legal History and of the Institutions of the National University of Distance Education\u00a0(UNED), Javier Alvarado Planas and by the Academic\u00a0Member\u00a0of\u00a0the Royal Academy\u00a0of\u00a0History, Jaime de Salazar y Acha.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Order\u00a0of\u00a0Saint John of Jerusalem, or the Order of Malta, played a key role in the geopolitical configuration of present day Europe and in the international relations. It is thus worth studying the singularities of this Order during the period of Charles V.<\/p>\n

Great Spanish masters of the Order during the period; the role Malta played in the Emperor\u2019s foreign and military policy in the Mediterranean; the ritual of the annual tribute of the Maltese falcon demanded by Charles V; the investiture ceremony to join the Order; the iconography of the Maltese knights at the time of Charles V; the relationship between the Empire, the Papacy and Malta and Charles V\u2019s Europeanist vocation and political and religious thinking, will be analysed.<\/p>\n

All these topics will be dealt with by experts and professors form different Spanish universities, such as Javier Pizarro, History of Art professor at the University of Extremadura; Concepci\u00f3n G\u00f3mez Ro\u00e1n, full professor of Legal and Institutions\u2019 History at the UNED; Carlos Nieto S\u00e1nchez, associate professor of Contemporary History at the Complutense University of Madrid, and Mar\u00eda Bonet Donato, full professor of Medieval History at the Universitat Rovira I Vigili, among others.<\/p>\n

The course counts with the collaboration of National Heritage and the Cooperation Network of European Routes of Emperor Charles V.<\/p>\n

Una treintena de estudiantes de varias provincias espa\u00f1olas y de Portugal se han inscrito en el coloquio-seminario de investigaci\u00f3n \u2018Carlos V y la orden de Malta\u2019 que se celebrar\u00e1 los d\u00edas 3 y 4 de octubre en el Real Monasterio de Yuste. En cuanto a los alumnos, la mayor\u00eda son historiadores del arte, abogados, formadores y economistas.<\/strong><\/p>

El curso, enmarcado en el programa Campus Yuste de la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste, est\u00e1 dirigido por Javier Alvarado Planas, catedr\u00e1tico de Historia del Derecho y de las Instituciones de la Universidad Nacional de Educaci\u00f3n a Distancia y por Jaime de Salazar y Acha, acad\u00e9mico de n\u00famero de la Real Academia de la Historia.<\/p>

La Orden de San Juan de Jerusal\u00e9n, u Orden de Malta, jug\u00f3 un papel clave en la conformaci\u00f3n geopol\u00edtica de la Europa de nuestros d\u00edas y en las relaciones internacionales y por lo que resulta de inter\u00e9s estudiar las singularidades de esta Orden durante la \u00e9poca de Carlos V. Tambi\u00e9n se analizar\u00e1n los grandes maestres espa\u00f1oles de la Orden en ese periodo, el papel de Malta en la pol\u00edtica exterior y militar del emperador en el mediterr\u00e1neo, el rito de infeudaci\u00f3n anual de entrega del halc\u00f3n malt\u00e9s exigido por Carlos V, el ceremonial de investidura para ingresar en la Orden, la iconograf\u00eda de los caballeros de Malta en la \u00e9poca de Carlos V, la relaci\u00f3n entre Imperio, Papado y Malta y la vocaci\u00f3n europe\u00edsta y pensamiento pol\u00edtico y religioso de Carlos V.<\/p>

Todos estos temas ser\u00e1n tratados por expertos y profesores de diversas universidades espa\u00f1olas, como Francisco Javier Pizarro, catedr\u00e1tico de Historia del Arte de la Universidad de Extremadura; Concepci\u00f3n G\u00f3mez Ro\u00e1n, profesora titular de Historia del Derecho y de las Instituciones de la UNED; Carlos Nieto S\u00e1nchez, profesor asociados de Historia Contempor\u00e1nea de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Mar\u00eda Bonet Donato, profesora titular de Historia Medieval de la Universitat Rovira i Vigili, entre otras personas.<\/p>

El curso cuenta con la colaboraci\u00f3n de Patrimonio Nacional y la Red de Cooperaci\u00f3n de las Rutas del Emperador Carlos V.<\/p>
