Women have always had a very important literary task and, certainly, during the 20th<\/sup> century. In spite of the hostile climate concerning feminine literary creation, which was considerably notable during the first and still persistent during the last decades in many aspects, they have known how to carry out their work as writers. Some managed to stand out during their time, paying the price of a great battle; others were not as fortunate and, in spite of a fruitful effort, they remained in oblivion until rescued much later when justice was done to them as far as their work is concerned. Others have surely not been rescued yet and remain in the shadows.<\/p>\n This exhibition attempts to show some of the traces left behind by these creators in the different Spanish speaking countries they were from. It is through these trails that their fruitful task, their interrelations, their relation with the editorial world, with illustrators and with the world of writers may be appreciated.<\/p>\n This sample is composed in homage to these women\u2019s battle; those who payed the price of wanting to be themselves and reflect their feelings and thoughts in written words facing family exclusions, marital problems, exiles, different types of injustices and in many other ways. It is also a recognition of how important the work they have bequeathed our culture is. Some of them received maximum recognition, such as the Nobel Prize (in the case of Gabriela Mistral), the Cervantes Prize and different national awards.<\/p>\n The period the exhibition intends to cover.<\/strong><\/p>\n We intend to include female writers who carried out their work during the 20th<\/sup> century in this sample; that is, we have selected those who were born in the 19th<\/sup> or the 20th<\/sup> century and wrote during the latter. Few exceptions have continued their career in the 21st<\/sup> century, but it is during the former century that they carried out most of it.<\/p>\n Authors who have evidently written literature for adults are included, but also some who have written for children: a space for children literature -which should also be seriously considered- that, in some cases, was also expressed in records and cartoons.<\/p>\n The drawn up list is not restrictive and does not attempt to cover the whole literary scene of the twenty Spanish-speaking countries; it merely aims to expose some of the traces that may give one an idea of these authors\u2019 contribution in their different geographical areas and in the Hispanic world in general.<\/p>\n Content of the exhibition.<\/strong><\/p>\n The nature of this sample is interdisciplinary; this means that it is certainly constituted by the different authors chosen\u2019s first edition of books (as they are the direct reflection of their work), as well as other elements that give us more, detailed and rich information about them (such as photographs, dedications, letters, personal belongings, documents, recordings of their own words, posters, films, etc.).
