The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation launches ten Carlos V European Award \u2013Antonio Tajani European Research and Mobility Grants for European Studies addressed to students who are working on their doctoral thesis in History, Political Sciences, Economy, Law and other fields of Human and Social Sciences, as well as in other branches of science. The subject chosen in this edition is \u201cThe European Union and the principle of solidarity\u201d.<\/p>\n
In 2018 the jury granted the 12th<\/sup> Carlos V European Award to Antonio Tajani \u2013then President of the European Parliament- for \u201ca political career spanning a period of almost 25 years dedicated to the European Union and its institutions as guarantors of peace, democracy, human rights, equality, solidarity, and the values it represents\u201d.<\/p>\n The \u201cCarlos V European Award\u201d European Research and Mobility Grants for European Studies deal with European history, memory and integration, where the framework and priority is the profile of the awarded person, institution, project or initiative in each edition and it is with him\/her\/it that the subject of research and priorities are defined under a multidisciplinary perspective. Thus, the topic chosen by Tajani is \u201cThe European Union and the principle of solidarity\u201d, a value he defended in his speech when the Carlos V Award was delivered to him as he advocated for a more democratic and transparent European economic governance \u201cthat may lead the most disadvantaged regions to social and economic convergence\u201d, he claimed.<\/p>\n Each grant has an economic endowment of 2.500 EUR that will serve to cover the preparation of the contributions that should be submitted in the framework of the Carlos V European Award Doctoral Seminar of Multi-disciplinary Studies on Contemporary Europe that will be held in Yuste (C\u00e1ceres-Extremadura-Spain); the development of research work carried out in the framework of the call which shall later be published in a joint work by Yuste Foundation; the mobility of researchers in order to carry out their research work and participate in the doctoral seminar and to attend the presentation of the publication.<\/p>\n Those interested in applying for a grant must be enrolled in a doctorate programme of one of the universities of the eligible countries mentioned in the call and be in the preparation stage of the doctoral thesis; not have previously been in receipt of these grants and certify knowledge of English or Spanish, having a B2 level or higher of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).<\/p>\n The deadline for the submission of applications is 30 working days beginning on the day following the publication the call in the Official Journal of Extramadura (DOE).The final date for deciding and notifying the outcome of the proceedings shall be three months beginning on the day following the deadline for the submission of applications.<\/p>\n Applications may be submitted via electronic means, completing the digital form published in the website:https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/en\/the-european-carlos-v-award\/becas-premio-europeo-carlos-v-at\/ .
