The Director of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno Pi\u00f1ero, participated in the opening of the 10th<\/sup> International Encounters on Transitions, entitled \u201cPolitical Discourse and Transitions: Spain and Europe\u201d in this edition, this Thursday and which will continue taking place at the Central Library of the University Campus in C\u00e1ceres until tomorrow.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Moreno Pi\u00f1ero defended \u201copen mindedness and the eradication of outdated provincialism\u201d as opposed to those who do everything in their power to raise new frontiers. He, furthermore, claimed that in future editions other transitions, apart from those concerning Europe, should be tackled because the Foundation has an Ibero-American vocation, which makes it look at and reflect on \u201ctransitions that sometimes, at the cost of fire and sword, are currently taking place in fraternal countries overseas\u201d.<\/p>\n

During a second reflection, the Director of the Foundation alluded to the \u201cshadows\u201d introduced by some historians when dealing with the Spanish period of Transition, although he affirmed that the lights of this historical phenomenon also had to be recognized as it \u201copened a period of coexistence that was, until then, unknown in our History and which we cannot just neglect\u201d.<\/p>\n

To Juan Carlos Moreno, this course fulfils the task of understanding present day history, because it \u201clooks towards our less distant past, because only progress drives human action over the years\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Secretary General of the University of Extremadura, Francisco \u00c1lvarez, and the Director of these Encounters and Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Extremadura, Mar\u00edo D\u00edaz Barrado, attended the opening session.<\/p>\n

During two days, renowned speakers from the academic field will analyse the thrilling domains of political discourse, especially from an ideological, but also from a communicative point of view as that of the media, which has been determining in transforming conventional political discourses.<\/p>\n

D\u00edaz Barrado claimed that in these encounters \u201csubjects that focus on the process of the Spanish Transition itself will be dealt with, apart from other transitions in Eastern Bloc countries, as well as different ways to consider political discourse that have to do with linguistics and social networks\u201d.<\/p>\n

COMBINING THE OLD WITH THE NEW<\/p>\n

In this sense, D\u00edaz Barrado explained that \u201cwhen analysing political discourse we become aware of the need to combine the old with the new in order to adjust the means of transmission and so that it may be interesting to everyone\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Secretary General of the University of Extremadura reflected on the different changes that have taken place in this country since the period of Transition, such as the introduction of new political parties that put an end to the two-party system. \u00c1lvarez Arroyo, furthermore, acknowledged that from that period he misses consensus, \u201cin 1978 two opposite poles reached an agreement; the present situation deserves that same consensus\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Encounters will go through diverse aspects related to the conceptualisation and articulation of contemporary political discourses, but ,above all, the processes that Spain and Europe have undergone in recent times and the interpretation that those processes have suffered through political discourse will be analysed.<\/p>\n

In this manner, the process of European construction can be analysed, beginning with enthusiastic discourse to the most critical or radically opposed. The same may be said regarding the Spanish transition to democracy, which has gone from being praised and promoted to being criticised and even questioned by some sectors.<\/p>\n

Among other speakers, Contemporary History Professor at the University of Extremadura, Enrique Moradiellos; editor in chief of Opini\u00f3n del Pa\u00eds,<\/em> Jos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s Rojo Ram\u00edrez; Professor of Hispanic Linguistics at the University of Artois, Carmen Pineira-Tresmontant; Co-Director of the Jean Monnet EU-Hope Module on the History of the European Union, Alejandro Cercas Alonso; Professor of Spanish Contemporary History and Civilisation at the University of Nantes, Pilar Mart\u00ednez-Vasseur; Professor of Laboratory Language Sciences of Political Communication (LCP) at the University of Paris 13, Patrick Charaudeau; Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas Garc\u00eda Dom\u00ednguez and Marina D\u00edaz Peralta y Gracia Pi\u00f1ero, and Spanish Language Professors of the IATEXT Group at the University Institute of Textual Analysis and Applications from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will take part among other experts.<\/p>\n

The seminar is organised by the University of Extremadura and Yuste Foundation in cooperation with the Council of Economy, Science and Digital Agenda of the Regional Government of Extremadura; the European Union\u2019s Regional Development Fund; Research Groups: HISTIPRES, IATEXT, CRINI and COTRALIS from the University of Extremadura; the University of Nantes; the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the University D\u2019Artois.<\/p>\n

El director de la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste, Juan Carlos Moreno Pi\u00f1ero, ha participado este jueves en la inauguraci\u00f3n de los X Encuentros Internacionales sobre las Transiciones, que en esta edici\u00f3n llevan por t\u00edtulo \u2018Discurso pol\u00edtico y transiciones: Espa\u00f1a y Europa\u2019 y se celebrar\u00e1n hasta ma\u00f1ana en la Biblioteca Central del Campus Universitario de C\u00e1ceres.<\/p>

Durante su intervenci\u00f3n, Moreno Pi\u00f1ero reivindic\u00f3 la \u201camplitud de miras y la erradicaci\u00f3n de aldeanismos trasnochados\u201d frente a quienes se esmeran por alzar nuevas fronteras. Adem\u00e1s, abog\u00f3 por que en futuras ediciones se aborden otras transiciones fuera del \u00e1mbito europeo porque la Fundaci\u00f3n tiene vocaci\u00f3n iberoamericana, lo que la obliga a mirar y reflexionar \u201csobre las transiciones que a veces, a costa de sangre y fuego, se est\u00e1n produciendo hoy mismo en los pa\u00edses hermanos de allende el oc\u00e9ano\u201d.<\/p>

En una segunda reflexi\u00f3n, el director de la Fundaci\u00f3n hizo alusi\u00f3n a las \u201csombras\u201d presentadas por algunos historiadores sobre el per\u00edodo de la Transici\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola, si bien afirm\u00f3 que tambi\u00e9n hab\u00eda que reconocer las luces de este fen\u00f3meno hist\u00f3rico que \u201cabri\u00f3 un periodo de convivencia antes desconocido en nuestra Historia que no podemos, sin m\u00e1s, denostar\u201d.<\/p>

Para Juan Carlos Moreno, este curso cumple con el cometido de entender la historia del tiempo presente porque \u201cmira hacia nuestro pasado menos remoto, porque solo el progreso impulsa la acci\u00f3n humana a lo largo de los a\u00f1os\u201d.<\/p>

En la inauguraci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n estuvieron presentes el secretario general de la Universidad de Extremadura, Francisco \u00c1lvarez Arroyo, y el director de estos Encuentros y catedr\u00e1tico de Historia Contempor\u00e1nea de la Universidad de Extremadura, Mario Pedro D\u00edaz Barrado.<\/p>

Durante dos d\u00edas, destacados ponentes del \u00e1mbito acad\u00e9mico analizar\u00e1n el apasionante territorio del discurso pol\u00edtico, sobre todo desde la perspectiva ideol\u00f3gica, pero tambi\u00e9n desde la comunicativa y medi\u00e1tica, que tan determinante ha sido para transformar los discursos pol\u00edticos convencionales.<\/p>

D\u00edaz Barrado ha detallado que en estos encuentros \u201cse van a tocar temas centrados en el propio proceso de la Transici\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola, adem\u00e1s de otras transiciones de pa\u00edses del Bloque del Este, as\u00ed como diferentes maneras de considerar el discurso pol\u00edtico que tienen que ver con la ling\u00fc\u00edstica y las redes sociales\u201d.<\/p>

CONJUGAR LO CL\u00c1SICO Y LO ACTUAL<\/strong><\/p>

En este sentido, D\u00edaz Barrado ha explicado que \u201csi analizamos el discurso pol\u00edtico nos daremos cuenta de que hay que conjugar lo cl\u00e1sico con lo actual para adecuar la forma de transmisi\u00f3n para que sea interesante para todos\u201d.<\/p>

El secretario general de la Universidad de Extremadura reflexion\u00f3 sobre los diversos cambios que se han producido en este pa\u00eds desde la \u00e9poca de la Transici\u00f3n, como la aparici\u00f3n de nuevos partidos pol\u00edticos que rompen con el bipartidismo. Por otra parte, \u00c1lvarez Arroyo reconoci\u00f3 que de aquella \u00e9poca echaba de menos el consenso, \u201cen 1978 se pusieron de acuerdo dos polos opuestos, la situaci\u00f3n actual merece ese mismo consenso\u201d.<\/p>

Los Encuentros recorrer\u00e1n diversos aspectos relacionados con la conceptualizaci\u00f3n y la articulaci\u00f3n de los discursos pol\u00edticos contempor\u00e1neos, pero sobre todo se analizar\u00e1n los procesos que Europa y Espa\u00f1a han atravesado en los \u00faltimos tiempos y la interpretaci\u00f3n que han sufrido esos procesos a trav\u00e9s del discurso pol\u00edtico.<\/p>

De esa forma podr\u00e1 analizarse el proceso de construcci\u00f3n europeo, partiendo del discurso entusiasta hasta el m\u00e1s cr\u00edtico o incluso el radicalmente opuesto, y lo mismo puede decirse para la Transici\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola a la democracia, que ha pasado en estos a\u00f1os de ser alabada e impulsada desde discursos optimistas y positivos a ser criticada e incluso puesta en entredicho por algunos sectores.<\/p>
