With the aim of promoting the previous debate and the willingness to participate in the Conference on the Future of Europe, the European Movement in Spain has organised two debate sessions with a hundred specialists and professionals on 6 and 7 March at the Royal Monastery of Yuste; where the Regional Advisory Council will meet for the first time to discuss the Conference, its objectives, content, scope, operation and structure, and the need to encourage the participation of organised civil society in order to strengthen the European project, to bring Europe closer to its citizens and the latter to their institutions.<\/p>\n
The Conference on the Future of Europe -commitment of the President of the European Commission in her investiture, to be convened by the European institutions in the coming days- is expected to be held for two years and will begin its tour on 9 May in Dubrovnik, a Croatian city whose country holds the presidency of the European Council during this first half of the year. On 15 January the European Parliament adopted a resolution supporting the holding of the conference, while the European Commission published its favourable position on 23 January.<\/p>\n
During the second day in Yuste the European Movement will also hold its first Regional Advisory Council, a meeting of the organisation at state level, which is clearly expanding. While the year 2019 began with eight Autonomous Councils with great activity -Andalusia, Arag\u00f3n, Asturias, Canarias, Cantabria, Catalu\u00f1a, Extremadura and Pa\u00eds Vasco- at the end of the year, the organisation has expanded with the implementation of the Autonomous Councils of Castilla y Le\u00f3n, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia and Navarre; and the Councils of Galicia, La Rioja and Valencia are in the process of being set up.<\/p>\n
The meeting in Yuste is the second activity organised by the European Movement in Spain in relation to the Conference on the Future of Europe. On 27 February, at the request of the Movement, a day of debate was held in the Congress of Deputies, hosted by the Chairwoman of the Joint Committee for the European Union, Susana Sumelzo, with the participation of Marta Gonz\u00e1lez, a member of the People\u2019s Party, the Socialist Group MEP, Dom\u00e8nec Ruiz, in addition to other specialists such as the Professor of Public International Law at the UCM, Araceli Mangas, and personalities such as Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Gil Robles and Enrique Bar\u00f3n, with a long European career, members of the European Movement, who in both cases held the Presidency of the European Parliament.<\/p>\n
The two-day event is also a new collaboration of the European Movement with the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, a cultural, scientific, research and dissemination entity, integrated into the public sector of the Regional Government of Extremadura. Among other activities, the Foundation awards the European Carlos V Award every May 9th, Europe Day, which in its last call in 2019 went to The Cultural Itineraries of the Council of Europe, an award presented in a ceremony presided over by King Felipe VI.<\/p>\n
The European Movement is the main platform in Spain in favour of the political construction of Europe, meeting point of civil, professional, institutional and academic society. Founded in 1949, with 71 years of experience, the Movement is part of a network also present in 32 countries of Europe and most of the Autonomous Communities.<\/p>\n

Con el objetivo de promover el debate previo y la voluntad de participar en la Conferencia sobre el Futuro de Europa, el Movimiento Europeo en Espa\u00f1a ha organizado los pr\u00f3ximos 6 y 7 de marzo en el Real Monasterio de Yuste dos jornadas de debate con un centenar de especialistas y profesionales; y donde adem\u00e1s se reunir\u00e1 por primera vez el Consejo Asesor Auton\u00f3mico para debatir acerca de la Conferencia, los objetivos, contenido, alcance, funcionamiento y estructura, y la necesidad de impulsar la participaci\u00f3n de la sociedad civil organizada para fortalecer el proyecto europeo, acercar Europa a los ciudadanos y a estos con sus instituciones.<\/p>
La Conferencia sobre el Futuro de Europa \u2013compromiso de la presidenta de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea en su investidura, pendiente de convocar por las instituciones europeas en los pr\u00f3ximos d\u00edas- se celebrar\u00e1 previsiblemente durante dos a\u00f1os y comenzar\u00e1 su recorrido el pr\u00f3ximo 9 de mayo en Dubrovnik, ciudad croata cuyo pa\u00eds ejerce durante este primer semestre del a\u00f1o la presidencia del Consejo Europeo. El Parlamento Europeo aprob\u00f3 el pasado 15 de enero una resoluci\u00f3n de apoyo a la celebraci\u00f3n de la Conferencia, mientras que la Comisi\u00f3n Europea public\u00f3 el 23 de enero su posici\u00f3n favorable a la misma.<\/p>
Durante la segunda jornada en Yuste el Movimiento Europeo celebrar\u00e1 adem\u00e1s su primer Consejo Asesor Auton\u00f3mico, un encuentro de la organizaci\u00f3n a nivel estatal, que se encuentra claramente en expansi\u00f3n. Mientras que el a\u00f1o 2019 comenz\u00f3 con ocho Consejos Auton\u00f3micos con gran actividad -Andaluc\u00eda, Arag\u00f3n, Asturias, Canarias, Cantabria, Catalu\u00f1a, Extremadura y Pa\u00eds Vasco-, al terminar el a\u00f1o la organizaci\u00f3n se ha ido extendiendo con la puesta en marcha de los Consejos Auton\u00f3micos de Castilla y Le\u00f3n, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia y Navarra; y se encuentran en proceso de constituci\u00f3n los Consejos de Galicia, La Rioja y Valencia.<\/p>
La reuni\u00f3n de Yuste supone la segunda actividad que organiza el Movimiento Europeo en Espa\u00f1a en relaci\u00f3n con la Conferencia sobre el Futuro de Europa. El pasado 27 de febrero se celebr\u00f3 a instancias del Movimiento una jornada de debate en el Congreso de los Diputados, acogidos por la presidenta de la Comisi\u00f3n Mixta para la Uni\u00f3n Europea, Susana Sumelzo, con la participaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n de la diputada del Partido Popular Marta Gonz\u00e1lez, el eurodiputado del Grupo Socialista Dom\u00e8nec Ruiz, adem\u00e1s de otros especialistas como la catedr\u00e1tica de Derecho Internacional P\u00fablico en la UCM Araceli Mangas; y personalidades como Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Gil Robles y Enrique Bar\u00f3n, con larga trayectoria europe\u00edsta, miembros del Movimiento Europeo, y que en ambos casos alcanzaron la presidencia del Parlamento Europeo.<\/p>
La doble jornada supone asimismo una nueva colaboraci\u00f3n del Movimiento Europeo con la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste, entidad de car\u00e1cter cultural, cient\u00edfico, investigador y divulgador, integrada en el sector p\u00fablico fundacional de la Junta de Extremadura. Entre otras actividades, la Fundaci\u00f3n entrega el Premio Europeo Carlos V cada 9 de mayo, D\u00eda de Europa, que en su \u00faltima convocatoria en 2019 recay\u00f3 en Los Itinerarios Culturales del Consejo de Europa, galard\u00f3n entregado en una ceremonia presidida por el rey Felipe VI.<\/p>
El Movimiento Europeo es la principal plataforma en Espa\u00f1a a favor de la construcci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica de Europa, punto de encuentro de la sociedad civil, profesional, institucional y acad\u00e9mica. Con 71 a\u00f1os de trayectoria \u2013se fund\u00f3 en 1949-, el Movimiento forma parte de una red tambi\u00e9n presente en 32pa\u00edses de Europa y la mayor\u00eda de las Comunidades Aut\u00f3nomas.<\/p>
