The Director-General of External Action, Rosa Balas, has called for an ambitious budget for a strong Europe in Cuacos de Yuste on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n This was pointed out during the annual meeting of the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement ‘A New Dawn for Europe: a European conference on the future of Europe’, held on 6 and 7 March, at the Royal Monastery of Yuste.<\/p>\n During her speech, Balas recalled that this is a key moment, which will set Europe\u2019s course in the coming years as is the negotiation of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), which will define an essential policy for the territories, such as the Cohesion Policy and the future of the CAP.<\/p>\n In this sense she pointed out that “from a profoundly European region, we defend that there can be no strong Europe, that citizens feel, without an ambitious budget”, while recalling the words of the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, and head of the Spanish delegation to the Committee of the Regions, Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez Vara, when he said at the 138th<\/sup> plenary session of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels in February that “it is impossible to send a message that we want more Europe with less budget”.<\/p>\n The Director-General also stressed that one of the main challenges facing Europe is to achieve a Common Migration Policy and that it is our responsibility “to improve our relationship with the rest of the world, and Europe is a mirror for many regions of the planet so, knowing the complexity of the current migration situation we are living, we have to achieve a common policy in this regard”.<\/p>\n She also pointed out other challenges facing Europe in improving the lives of its citizens, such as achieving a fair ecological transition, digitising the economy and society, and advancing the European pillar of social rights and Monetary Union.<\/p>\n YUSTE FOUNDATION AS A FORUM FOR REFLECTION<\/strong><\/p>\n In the framework of this meeting, Rosa Balas explained that Extremadura had all the necessary aspects for the creation of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation more than twenty years ago.<\/p>\n The director pointed out that “although it is in the south of Europe, its purpose is solidarity, justice and equality among all peoples”. Extremadura, she said, “is a frontier land, which has its European identity and its Ibero-American vocation imprinted in its founding Statute”.<\/p>\n For all these reasons, Yuste Foundation is “an instrument and a meeting point” between Europe and Ibero-America, and has become a “forum for reflection and a bridge in the connection between both sides of the Atlantic”.<\/p>\n Finally, Balas recalled that Yuste is a “key” place in the memory of this continent, a space from which to reflect on the challenges that Europe must face and offer ideas to further deepen the European project.<\/p>\n In this respect, she called for the importance of peripheral areas in the construction of Europe, because, in her view, “Europe is not only a geographical demarcation, it is also a vital space, a way of defending values and rights that have built a fairer, more egalitarian, more united and freer society”.<\/p>\n The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director-General for Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Secretariat of State for the European Union, Jos\u00e9 Luis Lozano; the President of the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement and Professor of reivindicado este viernes en Cuacos de Yuste un presupuesto ambicioso para conseguir una Europa fuerte.<\/strong><\/p> As\u00ed lo ha se\u00f1alado durante la reuni\u00f3n anual del Consejo Federal Espa\u00f1ol del Movimiento Europeo \u2018Un nuevo amanecer para Europa: conferencia europea sobre el futuro de Europa\u2019, que se celebra los d\u00edas 6 y 7 de marzo en el Real Monasterio de Yuste.<\/p> Durante su intervenci\u00f3n, Balas ha recordado que se est\u00e1 en un momento clave, que marcar\u00e1 el rumbo de Europa en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os, como es la negociaci\u00f3n del Marco Financiero Plurianual (MFP), que definir\u00e1 una pol\u00edtica esencial para los territorios como es la Pol\u00edtica de Cohesi\u00f3n y el futuro de la PAC.<\/p> En este sentido ha se\u00f1alado que \u201cdesde una regi\u00f3n profundamente europe\u00edsta, defendemos que no puede haber una Europa fuerte, que sientan los ciudadanos, sin un presupuesto ambicioso\u201d, al tiempo que record\u00f3 las palabras del presidente de la Junta de Extremadura, y jefe de la delegaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola en el Comit\u00e9 de las Regiones, Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez Vara, cuando en la celebraci\u00f3n del 138\u00ba Pleno del Comit\u00e9 de las Regiones en Bruselas en el mes de febrero dijo que \u201ces imposible mandar un mensaje de que queremos m\u00e1s Europa con menos presupuesto\u201d.<\/p> La directora general ha destacado tambi\u00e9n que uno de los principales retos a los que se enfrenta Europa es conseguir una Pol\u00edtica Com\u00fan Migratoria y que se tiene la responsabilidad \u201cde mejorar nuestra relaci\u00f3n con el resto del mundo, y Europa es un espejo para muchas regiones del planeta por lo que, sabiendo la complejidad de la actual situaci\u00f3n migratoria que estamos viviendo, tenemos que conseguir una pol\u00edtica com\u00fan en este sentido\u201d.<\/p> Adem\u00e1s se\u00f1al\u00f3 otros retos a los que se enfrenta Europa para mejorar la vida de sus ciudadanos tales como conseguir una transici\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica justa, la digitalizaci\u00f3n de la econom\u00eda y sociedad, y avanzar en el pilar europeo de derechos sociales y en la Uni\u00f3n Monetaria.<\/p> FUNDACI\u00d3N YUSTE COMO FORO DE REFLEXI\u00d3N<\/strong><\/p> En el marco de este encuentro, Rosa Balas explic\u00f3 que Extremadura contaba con todos los aspectos necesarios para la creaci\u00f3n de la Fundaci\u00f3n Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste hace m\u00e1s de veinte a\u00f1os.<\/p> La directora apunt\u00f3 que \u201caunque se encuentra en el sur de Europa, tiene su norte en la solidaridad, la justicia y la igualdad entre todos los pueblos\u201d.
