The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Iberian Film Festival of Badajoz invite young people who reside in Extremadura to become part of the Young Jury, which will be responsible for deciding for the Luis Alcoriza Award of the Iberian Film Festival. The latter celebrates its 26th edition in Badajoz, Olivenza and San Vicente de Alc\u00e1ntara from 22 to 25 July.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this edition, the Young Jury opens to all young residents of Extremadura aged between 18 and 30. Until now, only those studying for the different degrees of the University of Extremadura (UEX) could become members of the Young Jury of the Iberian Film Festival.<\/p>\n

Those interested in becoming a member of the Young Jury can register until 10 July on the festival website https:\/\/festivaldecine.com\/2020\/ser-jurado-joven\/<\/p>\n

The organisation of the Iberian Film Festival will perform a film analysis test of a short film to ensure the competence and suitability of the chosen jury.<\/p>\n

The members of the Young Jury will be able to participate in all the activities of the Festival and will obtain a certificate accrediting their status as 2020 Young Jury at the 26th Iberian Film Festival of Badajoz. It will be compulsory for them to attend all the official sessions of the competing short films, which will take place in the outside premises of the Extremaduran and Ibero-American Museum of Contemporary Art in Badajoz (MEIAC).<\/p>\n

With this activity, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Iberian Film Festival of Badajoz promote the participation of youth in the audio-visual and cinematographic world.<\/p>\n

By appointing the Young Jury Award under the name Luis Alcoriza, tribute is paid to this director, screenwriter and film actor, born in Badajoz and exiled in Mexico after the Civil War, becoming one of the greatest figures in Mexican cinema.<\/p>\n

His career includes collaborations with Luis Bu\u00f1uel in eight screenplays, writing in some of his best films, among which are \u201cLos olvidados\u201d and \u201cEl \u00e1ngel exterminador\u201d.<\/p>\n
