The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has published La mujer en la Europa renacentista y en el Nuevo Mundo<\/em>, a volume that approaches the time of Emperor Charles V with an integrative approach, stressing the co-responsibility of women in the various political, legislative, social, cultural and religious spheres.<\/strong><\/p>\n La mujer en la Europa renacentista y en el Nuevo Mundo<\/em> gathers the texts of the lectures given during the homonymous summer course held at the Royal Monastery of Yuste within the edition of Campus Yuste 2019. Professor of American History at the Complutense University of Madrid, Rosa Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ednez de Codes, and Professor of Latin Philology at the University of Extremadura, C\u00e9sar Chaparro G\u00f3mez, were the directors of this course and have now been responsible for the coordination of the publication. This book compiles the works presented by specialists, such as Gustaaf Janssens; Marion Reder Gadow; Gloria Franco Rubio; Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Diez; Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Encontra y Vilalta; Rosa Perales Piqueres; Eustaquio S\u00e1nchez Salor; Manuel Ma\u00f1as N\u00fa\u00f1ez; Jaime Contreras; C\u00e9sar Chaparro; Rosa Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ednez de Codes and Juan Carlos Moreno Pi\u00f1ero.<\/p>\n The role that women had in the Renaissance Europe of the sixteenth century and in the New World is analysed, as well as their contribution, often in the shadows, in political decision-making and in the good governance of the empire. The main objectives include the analysis of the relations established between women living in the Spanish Hapsburg Court, the way in which they exercised political power and they presented their image, as well as the influence of a spirituality marked by reformist movements common to various religious orders.<\/p>\n This publication also studies the lack of visibility given to women in the indigenous sphere, the study of the social model that is taken to the Americas and the intercultural process that is generated in the Indian space, in the creation of myths and cults, which were privileged communication vehicles in America to publicise the most powerful ideas of the time.<\/p>\n It also deals with unique topics, such as the role of women in the field of both literary and religious culture and special attention is payed to specific areas of marginality (prostitution) and heterodoxy (witchcraft) which women were relegated to.<\/p>\n La mujer en la Europa renacentista y en el Nuevo Mundo<\/em> is number 5 in the book collection \u201cEntre dos mundos: Am\u00e9rica y Europa desde Extremadura\u201d, which is in turn part of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation\u2019s editorial initiative.<\/p>\n
