To help repair the economic and social damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the European Commission has proposed \u201cNext Generation EU\u201d, a \u20ac750,000 million recovery plan. This plan, together with the EU\u2019s long-term budget, aims to build a greener, more inclusive, digital and sustainable Europe. Through the European Green Deal, the European Commission is presenting an ambitious package of measures which should enable European businesses and citizens to benefit from a sustainable ecological transition and make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.<\/p>\n

In order to publicise the European Green Deal among the students of the University of Extremadura, the Centre for European Documentation and Information in Extremadura (CDIEX), in collaboration with the Representation of the European Commission in Spain, the University of Extremadura and Yuste Foundation, is organising the online event “European Green Deal: Let\u2019s Build the Green Europe of the Future Together”, which will be held on 8 April from 10 am to 12 pm.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Juan Gonz\u00e1lez Mellizo, political analyst of the Representation in Spain of the European Commission, and Alberto Rocamora, who is an expert in bioenergy, will join us.<\/p>\n

Students will be able to share their proposals on what actions we need at individual, national and European level, to facilitate the climate transition, grouping themselves into 3 virtual classrooms, led by facilitators of the Representation of the European Commission in Spain.<\/p>\n

Six topics for reflection are proposed.<\/p>\n

  3. Urban areas and climate change<\/li>\n
  4. Industry and Circular Economy<\/li>\n
  5. Biodiversity<\/li>\n
