The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and National Heritage have organised the concert \u201cLa canci\u00f3n del Emperador\u201d, which is performed by Duo Orpheo and is to be held next Saturday, 18 September, at 13:00pm, at the Royal Monastery of Yuste (C\u00e1ceres).<\/strong>\u00a0(14\/09\/2021)<\/p>\n

The programme includes two parts. In the first, works of the 15th and 16th centuries by vihuela players Fuenllana, Mudarra, Mi\u00e1n and Narv\u00e1ez, will be interpreted. The second part of the concert is a tribute to one of the greatest lute composers of all time: John Dowland (1563-1626), master at creating ayres for voice and lute, he published three books between 1597 and 1612.<\/p>\n

D\u00fao Orpheo specialises in the repertoire of vocal music accompanied by stringed instruments. Its programmes span a wide range of eras and styles from the Renaissance to present day, taking part in different festivals in Spain and abroad such as the International Classical Guitar Meeting, \u201cNorba Caesarina\u201d in C\u00e1ceres and the Classical Guitar Weekend at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.<\/p>\n

The duo is composed of the soprano Eugenia Boix, who is from Huesca and has made recordings for RNE, Radio Cl\u00e1sica, Portuguese Radio Cl\u00e1sica and the BBC, and Jacinto S\u00e1nchez, from C\u00e1ceres, tenured professor at the Conservatoire of C\u00e1ceres and president of the \u201c\u00c1ngel Iglesias\u201d Association of Classical Guitar of Extremadura.<\/p>\n

Yuste Foundation began a set of concerts in 1997 with the aim of rooting a musical cycle related to the time of Emperor Carlos V in Extremadura and reclaim the European cultural heritage and its history as the main engine of the process of European integration and construction.<\/p>\n

The concert counts with the collaboration of the Regional Government of Extremadura, the Provincial Councils of C\u00e1ceres and Badajoz and the Cooperation Network of the Routes of Emperor Charles V.<\/p>\n

Admission to the concert is free until full capacity limit is reached.<\/strong><\/p>\n
