The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation presents the book Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s en el siglo XXI. V centenario de la llegada de Cort\u00e9s a M\u00e9xico<\/em> tomorrow, Thursday, 11 November, at 17:00 pm, at the Museum of America in Madrid. <\/strong>(10\/11\/2021)<\/p>\n

The book compiles all the conferences and presentations of the international congress that was given the same name and was held in 2019 in the Extremaduran towns of Medell\u00edn and Trujillo. The congress brought together experts in the multifaceted figure from Medell\u00edn, from both sides of the Atlantic, such as Christian Duverger, Esteban Mira Caballos, Rodrigo Mart\u00ednez Baracs, Alicia Mayer, Mar\u00eda del Carmen Mart\u00ednez Mart\u00ednez, Ram\u00f3n Tamames G\u00f3mez or Mart\u00edn Almagro Gorbea, among many others.<\/p>\n

The presentation will be addressed by the director of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno; the director of the Museum of America, Encarnaci\u00f3n Hidalgo C\u00e1mara; the Extremadura Hist\u00f3rica Federation, Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Calero Carretero, and the president of the Historical Association of Metell\u00edn, Tom\u00e1s Garc\u00eda Mu\u00f1oz.<\/p>\n

In addition, this event will feature the conference \u201cIconography of Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s in the collections of the Museum of America\u201d given by the Head of the Museum of America\u2019s Viceroyalty of America Department, Ana Zab\u00eda de la Mata.<\/p>\n

This presentation closes the cycle to publicise this publication that began in Medell\u00edn, reached the Ateneo in Seville and ends at the Museum of America in Madrid.<\/p>\n

On the publication<\/strong><\/p>\n

This book delves into historiographic knowledge concerning the figure of Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s in the context of the 16th century, and it also attempts to disseminate and make the knowledge on the historical transcendence of the polyhedral personality of Cort\u00e9s known, according to his origin, youth, education and his colonising, administrative and expeditionary tasks. His concerns as a businessman and as a tireless fighter for the recognition of his legitimate rights are also studied. The objective is to know, understand, contextualise and disseminate the valuable historical, social, cultural and economic legacy that Hern\u00e1n Cort\u00e9s left Modernity.<\/p>\n

The president of the Extremadura Hist\u00f3rica Federation, Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Calero Carretero, and the president of the Historical Association of Medell\u00edn, Tom\u00e1s Garc\u00eda Mu\u00f1oz, have been in charge of coordinating the edition.<\/p>\n

V centenario de la llegada de Cort\u00e9s a M\u00e9xico<\/em> is number 6 of the collection \u201cEntre dos mundos: Am\u00e9rica y Europa desde Extremadura\u201d, which is part of in the editorial initiative of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation.<\/p>\n
