The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has just published the doctoral thesis “Cirurgi\u00f5es, pr\u00e1ticas e saberes cir\u00fargicos na Am\u00e9rica portuguesa no s\u00e9culo XVIII”, by Brazilian Monique Palma. This is the winning thesis of the Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses convened by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation whose prize was awarded in the framework of the I International Congress \u201cRelations between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean: A Meeting Space\u201d, which was held between 18 and 20 March 2021 at the Royal Monastery of Santa Mar\u00eda de Guadalupe.<\/strong>(18\/01\/2022)<\/p>\n

This is the fourth publication of the Foundation\u2019s book collection \u201cTesis Doctorales\u201d, the previous one was: \u201cFilosof\u00eda de la historia de Am\u00e9rica: los cronistas de Indias en el pensamiento espa\u00f1ol\u201d by Natalia K. Denisova.<\/p>\n

This research, which focuses on the eighteenth century, must be considered valid in the current world health situation, as it exposes the flows of knowledge and understanding that have existed for centuries between Europe and Ibero-America in a comprehensive way, as the thesis itself states as it claims that \u201cit involves a study of the processes of the circulation of people and knowledge in a world that tends towards globalisation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Monique Palma has a PhD in History from the University of Porto, Portugal. MA in History from the University of Maring\u00e1, Brazil. She is a Member of the Transdisciplinary Culture, Space and Memory Research Centre of the University of Porto. She currently works as a researcher in the DUNES ~ o Mar, a Areia e as Gentes project of the History Centre of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. She received the international research award at doctoral level \u201cPina Manique \u2013 From Enlightenment to the Liberal Revolution\u201d, from the Portuguese Academy of History \/ Pina Manique Foundation, 2020.<\/p>\n
