Journalism and Communication for International Cooperation’” sessions, which have been inaugurated at the auditorium of the Faculty of Documentation and Communication Sciences of the University of Extremadura in Badajoz today. This event is organised by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Extremaduran Agency for International Development Cooperation (AEXCID). She thanked the organisers for the opportunity to bring these sessions over to the university, a place which in addition to research and internships, “also needs direct contact with professionals”. In this manner, she stressed the importance of holding these sessions at the Faculty of Documentation and Communication Sciences, “since it can be a great opportunity for students, not only to know the first-hand difficulties encountered to carry out research work, but also to create future networking groups”.
The director general of the Extremaduran Agency for International Development Cooperation, Ángel Calle, for his part, pointed out that it is very important for the AEXCID to support this type of initiatives that foster great alliances “to combat, reverse and, above all, to know the truth about the international conflicts that generate those enormous inequality gaps”.

Finally, the director of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno, highlighted the work of communication professionals noting that “the work, texts, photographs and communication reportages of all kind are the key that must open the consciences of all and should be the spotlight that illuminates where the action of public administrations should be directed, because you’re aim will surely be the most needy and those who find themselves in the most unequal circumstances”.
The director of Yuste Foundation also denounced in his speech that “a short distance from where we are standing, people are still living and dying as they have always lived and died: with an empty stomach, with a weapon in hand or defeated by a disease that would have a cure anywhere else in the world”.

The director of the magazine 5W, Agus Morales, participated in today’s session affirming that journalism is, above all, “a look because it is not the same to see than it is to look, and I believe that the media is increasingly losing the ability to look and this is something that should be recovered”.

The photojournalist and award-winner of the 1st World Press Photo 2021 in the category of Contemporary Issues, Pablo Tosco, showed the daily lives of women in Africa in his photos; through his images, he exposed poverty, exclusion, inequality, wars and man as a result of political decisions that need to be changed.
