<\/a>The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised the 1st<\/sup> Guadalupe in America Sessions \u201cThe Jurist from Guadalupe, Lorenzo Lebr\u00f3n de Qui\u00f1ones and His Time: The Forging of New Spain in the 16th<\/sup> Century\u201d, along with the University of Extremadura, the Municipality of Guadalupe and the Royal Monastery of Santa Mar\u00eda de Guadalupe, which will take place on 4 and 5 April in a mixed format: online and face-to-face in Guadalupe. The Sessions are part of the activities of the event of exceptional public interest known as the Holy Year of Guadalupe 2020-2022. <\/strong>(01\/04\/2022)<\/p>\nThese scientific presentations aim to highlight and give recognition to the jurist from Guadalupe, Lebr\u00f3n de Qui\u00f1ones, as a magistrate of the American Audiencia of Nueva Galicia. Lebr\u00f3n was a prominent servant of the Hispanic monarchy in Indian governance as a visiting judge of the viceroyalty of New Spain and a staunch defender of the American indigenous population.<\/p>\n
The figure and work of this Extremaduran character will be contextualised through the presentation of studies and papers by jurists, Americanist historians and specialists, who will expose the historical framework where this judge-oidor<\/em> got along in New Spain. In addition, with these Sessions the study of the projection and presence of the Puebla de Guadalupe in the American territories during the governmental stage of Spain overseas begins.<\/p>\n The opening of the Sessions will take place on Monday, 4 April, at 11:00 am, at the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe.
