<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nThe European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation continues with its objective of delving into the figure and time of Emperor Charles V in order to make a character and a crucial period of history known. A time in which decisions were made and fundamental changes occurred which need to be understood in order to better understand today\u2019s Europe. <\/strong>(04\/07\/2022)<\/p>\n To this end, Campus Yuste schedules the course \u201cThe Worlds of Charles V: Humanism, Education and Transmission of Knowledge in Europe and America\u201d from 6 to 8 July with the aim of delving into aspects related to education and humanist thought during the Renaissance period in the 16th century, as well as analysing the configuration and development of university education in Europe and America and the transmission of technical and scientific knowledge.<\/p>\n The programme takes place in three concatenated scenarios in which pedagogical and artistic humanism shone with its own light. Charles V was educated in a Flemish humanist environment that greatly influenced his Christian education and was projected in the government of his Empire over the years. At the height of European humanism, the discovery of America took place; a fundamental historical juncture for the cultural history of America and the educational models that were introduced there. These were models that originated in Spain and responded to a humanist renewal of teaching methods that developed in the 16th century. A century in which the first universities were created in Ibero-America, which have been a source of knowledge transmission to the present day, leaving us a legacy that needs to be known.<\/p>\n This course, which is directed by Rosa Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ednez de Codes and C\u00e9sar Chaparro G\u00f3mez, full professors of the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Extremadura, respectively, recovers the face-to-face format at the Monastery of San Jer\u00f3nimo de Yuste, so that students can listen to and participate in the presentations and round tables and share experiences with leading figures from the European academic world. Among the speakers, the following will attend: the honorary archivist of the Archive of the Royal Palace in Brussels, Professor Emeritus of the Catholic University of Louvain and academic of Yuste, Gustaaf Janssens; the professor of Iberian and Latin American history at the University of Hamburg, Horst Pietschmann; Professor Emeritus of Sociology of Religion at the University of Strasbourg, Jean-Pierre Basti\u00e1n; full professor of Modern History at the University of Burgos, Cristina Borreguero Beltr\u00e1n; full professor of American History at the University of Seville, Carmen Mena Garc\u00eda; and the History professor at the University of Salamanca, corresponding academic of the Academia Portuguesa da Hist\u00f3ria and 2021 \u201cMar\u00eda de Maeztu\u201d award-winner for Scientific Excellence, Ana Mar\u00eda Carabias Torres.<\/p>\n In addition, Campus Yuste offers an online version of all its courses, thus opening a window to the world with the live broadcast through its YouTube channel. People from Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, and Turkey have signed up for the course \u201cThe Worlds of Charles V: Humanism, Education and Transmission of Knowledge in Europe and America\u201d.
