The topic and research priorities are defined from a multidisciplinary perspective with the award-winner. In this sense, the topics presented in the applications address different themes, such as cultural heritage, sustainability, linguistic diversity, citizen participation, European identity, European values, peace, literature, the eradication of hate speech and feminism.

In total, twenty applications have been received from the following countries: Argentina, Belgium, Colombia, Spain, France, Peru and Romania. Two of the grants are financed by the European Institute of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe through the financial endowment of the Carlos V European Award to the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

Each grant has an individual endowment of 2,500 euros and funds the study and research work for the preparation of the papers that will be presented at the Doctoral Seminar of Multidisciplinary Studies on Contemporary Europe that will take place at the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste from 7 to 9 June 2023. It also finances the mobility of researchers in order to carry out their work and the publication in a joint work that will be part of the book collection “Cuadernos de Yuste”, which is published by Yuste Foundation.

The jury of the Carlos V European Award – Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe European Research and Mobility Grants on European Studies was chaired by the Carlos V European Award-winner, member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste and former secretary general of the Council of Europe, Marcelino Oreja. In addition, the director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes, Stefano Dominioni, and the director-general of culture at the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), Natalia Armijos; Jean Monnet Professor ad personam and vice-president of the Royal European Academy of Doctors, Teresa Freixes; professor of Contemporary History of the University of Extremadura and member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste, Enrique Moradiellos García; the researcher of the University of Leuven and member of the Euro-Ibero-American Alumni Network of Yuste, Ana Milosevic, and the director of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno, have been part of it among other and professors of different European universities.

YUSTE’S ALUMNI NETWORK

Those researchers who have been awarded a grant, will join the Euro-Ibero-American Alumni Network of Yuste, which aims to facilitate the exchange of projects and information among researchers specialising in European issues who have awarded a Carlos V European Award Grant.

Yuste’s Alumnni Network is spread over the world’s leading universities, institutions and research centres. More than 100 researchers from different countries, such as Italy, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Russia, Portugal, Mexico, Peru, Cuba and Brazil, are currently part of the network.

THE CARLOS V EUROPEAN AWARD TO THE CULTURAL ROUTES

With this award, Yuste Foundation intends to recognise the work of individuals, organisations, projects or initiatives that have contributed to the general knowledge and enhancement of the cultural, social, scientific and historical values of Europe, as well as the process of European construction and integration.

The jury of the Carlos V European Award awarded the prize to the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in 2019 for its work “promoting European values related with cultural diversity, the respect for the respective identities, the intercultural dialogue, and the exchange and knowledge about the countries and History”. The jury also underlined the work that the Routes do fostering cooperation in research and development; the enhancement of memory, history and European heritage; cultural and educational exchanges for young Europeans; contemporary cultural and artistic practice; and cultural tourism.

Created by the Council of Europe in 1987, the Cultural Routes programme demonstrates, through a journey through space and time, how the heritage of Europe’s different countries and cultures contributes to a shared and living cultural heritage. The Routes put the fundamental values of the Council of Europe into practice: human rights, cultural democracy, diversity and cultural identity, exchanges and mutual enrichment beyond borders and centuries. They act as bridges for intercultural dialogue and the promotion of a better knowledge and understanding of a European cultural identity.

For further information: https://www.fundacionyuste.org/en/carlos-v-european-award-grants/

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_post_nav in_same_term=”on” prev_text=”VER NOTICIA ANTERIOR” next_text=”VER NOTICIA SIGUIENTE” admin_label=”← NAVEGACION POR NOTICIAS →” _builder_version=”4.14.8″ custom_margin=”||3%|” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_post_nav][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Ten researchers from Spain, Romania, Belgium, Colombia and Argentina have been selected beneficiaries of the Carlos V European Award – Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe European Research and Mobility Grants on European Studies.
