<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nThe European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, the University of Extremadura (UEx) and the Centre for Studies on Ibero-America of the Rey Juan Carlos University have organised the 3rd<\/sup> International Congress \u201cRelations between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe: Images and Views on Both Shores\u201d. They have counted with the collaboration of the Municipality of Guadalupe and the Franciscan Community and the event will be held at the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe on the 21st<\/sup> and 22nd<\/sup> of March. <\/strong>(18\/03\/2023)<\/p>\n The keynote address will be given by the former vice-president of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Rosario Silva de Lapuerta, and a round table on diplomacy in Europe-Latin America relations and cooperation is scheduled, where the ambassadors of Portugal, Argentina and Colombia in Spain, Jo\u00e3o Mira Gomez; Ricardo Luis Alfons\u00edn and Eduardo \u00c1vila Navarrete, respectively, will participate. The table will also count with the ambassador, advisory member in the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and for Spanish in the World, Juan L\u00f3pez-D\u00f3riga.<\/p>\n Another perspective which the relationship on both sides of the Atlantic will be tackled from, will be the vision of the media and their role in mutual knowledge between Latin America and Europe with a round table where the director of the newspaper La Raz\u00f3n, Francisco Marhuenda; the deputy director of Internacional and Desalambre in the digital newspaper eldiario.es, Andr\u00e9s Gil; and the journalist collaborator in Infolibre, Antena 3, TVE and Onda Cero, Pilar Velasco, will participate.<\/p>\n OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n One of the objectives of this congress is to delve into the interaction that has been taking place for over five centuries between America and Europe. It also seeks to prioritise the research that studies this relationship, which has been shaping a historical reality in both spaces that is noted in a cultural and material heritage which is in many cases common.<\/p>\n This edition focuses on the aspects of common perceptions, democracy, diplomatic relations, security, as well as the cultural aspects of the relationship between the two regions, and further progress in studies on migration flows.<\/p>\n The international nature of the congress is reflected in the nationalities of the speakers and young researchers, PhD students and PhDs who have submitted papers and who come from different countries in Europe and Latin America: Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Luxembourg; France, Guatemala, Haiti, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Venezuela. 34 papers have been received, 15 of which will be presented by their authors during the congress and the rest will be published in Yuste Foundation\u2019s YouTube channel for consultation.<\/p>\n Those interested can register, free of charge, to follow it online via the following link: https:\/\/forms.gle\/yRDxW2jJAwmSKSFM8link. In addition, all speeches can be followed live via Yuste Foundation\u2019s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n THE RESEARCH PRIZE AND THE SCHOOL OF GUADALUPE<\/strong><\/p>\n In addition to the conferences and papers, the congress is the stage chosen by Yuste Foundation to award the Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses. In this edition, the award has been won by the Mexican researcher \u00d3scar Sergio Z\u00e1rate Miramontes for his thesis entitled, \u201cRevoluci\u00f3n e indulgencia. Another objective is to increase the debate between the two regions, highlighting, above all, the participation of young researchers in the fields of International Relations and the History of Ibero-America as a space for the deep relations between the two regions.<\/p>\n
