<\/a><\/strong>The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation is organising a conference entitled \u201cUcrania a\u00f1o uno\u201d on Tuesday 28 March at 19:00 hours, at San Jos\u00e9 School in Villafranca de los Barros (Badajoz). The conference will be given by the president of the Extremaduran Council of the European Movement (CEXME) and former Member of the European Parliament, Alejandro Cercas Alonso.<\/strong> (25\/03\/2023)<\/p>\nCercas states that he will address two main issues at the conference and subsequent colloquium: in the first, he will analyse whether the war in Ukraine has changed the European Union and made it stronger and more resilient; and in the second, he will defend that in order for Europe to be a relevant actor in the future \u201cit must equip itself with a more communal Foreign and Security Policy and institutions that abandon the ambiguities and weaknesses of the past\u201d.<\/p>\n
Alejandro Cercas Alonso is the president of the Extremaduran Council of the European Movement (CEXME) and co-director of the Jean Monnet EU-Hope module on European Integration at the University of Extremadura, where he has been a professor since 2015. He is a former Member of the European Parliament. A law graduate, he was a civil servant in the Higher Technical Corps of Social Security and a civil servant in Special Services since 1982. In the political field, he was also a member of the Executive Commission of Juventudes Socialistas<\/em> (1974-1977); a member of the Federal Committee of PSOE<\/em> (1979-2000); area secretary of the Executive Committee of PSOE<\/em> (1984-1996). Member of Congress for Madrid (1982-1989) and Member of Congress for C\u00e1ceres (1989-1999). He was also chairman of the Committee on Social Policy and Employment of the Spanish Parliament (1982-1986); spokesman for Social Affairs (1986-1999) and coordinator of the S&D Group in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs since 2009.<\/p>\n ON TRIBUNA EUROIBEROAM\u00c9RICA<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n This talk is held within Tribuna EuroIberoam\u00e9rica<\/em>, a programme that was launched by Yuste Foundation and is open to citizens. It is carried out in education centres so that Extremaduran students can complete their training with the contributions made by experts in different social, economic, cultural fields, etc.<\/p>\n Tribuna EuroIberoam\u00e9rica<\/em> favours knowledge and the rapprochement of the current situation to the Extremaduran students and to the civil society, becoming a forum that gathers national and international experts to debate different current issues.<\/p>\n The following are some of the speakers who have participated in this programme: former economic adviser to the European Commission and president of IRELAC, Christian Ghymers, filmmaker Santi Amodeo, the writer Jes\u00fas S\u00e1nchez Adalid; the former Costa Rican minister Juan Manuel Villasuso; journalist Anna Bosch; the former Ibero-American Secretary General and Prince of Asturias award-winner, Enrique V.
