The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Iberian Film Festival of Badajoz invite young residents in Extremadura, aged between 18 and 30, to become a member of the Young Jury, which will be awarding the Luis Alcoriza Award of the 29th<\/sup> Iberian Film Festival. The latter will be held in Badajoz, Olivenza and San Vicente de Alc\u00e1ntara from 17 to 21 July. <\/strong>(12\/06\/2023)<\/p>\n

With this activity, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Iberian Film Festival of Badajoz promote the participation of youth in the audio-visual and cinematographic world.<\/p>\n

THE DEADLINE FOR THE RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS IS 20 JUNE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Those interested in becoming a member of the Young Jury can register until 20 June by filling in the form provided for this purpose on the website of the festival: https:\/\/festivaldecine.com\/<\/a> After registration, the organisation of the event will give the participants a film analysis test of a short film to ensure the competence and suitability of the jury chosen.<\/p>\n

On the basis of this test, the organisation will select the young people who will finally make up the jury that will award the Luis Alcoriza Award, which will be delivered to the best short film of the official section.<\/p>\n

The selected group must attend the three official sessions of the Short Film Festival (from 17 to 19 July in Badajoz); in exchange, they will be able to participate free of charge in all the activities of the Festival and will be given a certificate accrediting their status as Young Jury in the 29th<\/sup> edition of the Iberian Film Festival.<\/p>\n

AN AWARD THAT PAYS TRIBUTE TO LUIS ALCORIZA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Naming the Young Jury Award \u201cLuis Alcoriza\u201d is a tribute to this director, screenwriter and film actor who was born in Badajoz and was exiled in Mexico after the civil war, becoming one of the greatest figures of Mexican cinema.<\/p>\n

Alcoriza (1918-1992) became one of the greatest figures of Mexican cinema. His role as a screenwriter includes collaborations with Luis Bu\u00f1uel in key films of this filmmaker from Arag\u00f3n, such as \u201cLos olvidados\u201d (1950) or \u201cEl \u00e1ngel exterminador\u201d (1962). As a director, among his varied production, there are films that have later been revalued, as is the Mexican \u201cTlayucan\u201d (1962), nominated for the Oscar for best foreign language film.<\/p>\n

The board of trustees and the staff of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation regret the death of the 97-year-old French sociologist Alain Touraine, member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste.
