This circumstance presents an opportunity to strengthen relations between the two regions, taking the existing strong historical, political, cultural, economic and social relations between the country and the Ibero-American region into account. <\/strong>(24\/06\/2023)<\/p>\n<p>The course \u201cEuropean Union-Latin America and the Caribbean in the Framework of the Presidencies of the EU Council and the EU-CELAC and Ibero-American Summits\u201d, organised by Yuste Foundation and EU-LAC Foundation, is directed by the executive director of the EU-LAC Foundation, Adri\u00e1n Bonilla; the president of the Euroam\u00e9rica Foundation and member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste, Ram\u00f3n J\u00e1uregui, and the member of Yuste Foundation\u2019s Board of Trustees, Mar\u00eda Salvadora Ortiz.<\/p>\n<p>The course will also discuss the role of EU-Latin America and the Caribbean summits, as well as the Ibero-American Summits and possible instruments for dialogue and cooperation which will enable both regions to exploit the full potential of a stronger and more strategic alliance at a time of global geopolitical upheaval, with major global threats and challenges that need to be addressed together.<\/p>\n<p>Another aim is to address how the challenges are faced at global level taking the Sustainable Development Goals into account, contributing through training, reflection, debate and knowledge transfer to a greater study and improvement of the implementation of strategies that contribute to the construction of peaceful, supportive and egalitarian societies.<\/p>\n<p>With these programmatic objectives, some of the prominent European and Ibero-American personalities that will meet are the following: the Secretary of State for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and for Spanish around the World of the Government of Spain, Juan Fern\u00e1ndez Trigo; the Management director for the Americas in the European External Action Service (EEAS), Javier Ni\u00f1o P\u00e9rez; the president of EU-LAC Foundation, Leire Paj\u00edn; the executive secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and former Minister of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica, Andrea Meza Murillo; the president of the Interdisciplinary Institute for EU-CELAC \u2013IRELAC Relations and vice-president of Robert Triffin International- RTI\/UCLouvain, Christian Ghymers; the associate professor of the Institute of Economics of the School of Advanced Studies Sant&#8217; Anna, Pisa (Italy) and former deputy executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Mario Cimoli; and the political analyst, journalist and director of the Office of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) in Madrid, Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Torreblanca.<\/p>\n<p>This course is held at the Monastery of San Jer\u00f3nimo de Yuste, where students can listen and participate in the presentations and round tables and share experiences with European and Ibero-American experts. In addition, Campus Yuste will offer an online version.
