<\/a>More than sixty judges, notaries, and registrars from Spain and Ibero-America gathered on 11 and 12 March at the Royal Monastery of Santa Mar\u00eda de Guadalupe for the third edition of the course on \u201cIbero-American and European Agricultural and Livestock Law\u201d, organised by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the General Council of the Judiciary under the agreement signed between both institutions. <\/strong>(13\/03\/2025)<\/p>\nAt the closing ceremony, the regional minister for the Presidency, Interior, and Social Dialogue of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Abel Bautista, stated that the regional government listens to farmers and livestock breeders and, for this reason, \u201cwe have made the requirements for accessing CAP aid more flexible, reducing the livestock density per hectare so that more farmers and livestock breeders can benefit from the eco-schemes\u201d. Furthermore, Bautista warned that the current geopolitical situation will have a direct impact on agriculture and livestock farming through tariff policies, at a time when \u201cexports from Extremadura have reached record figures, translating into a 10.2% growth driven mainly by the agri-food sector\u201d.<\/p>\n
For her part, the president of the High Court of Justice of Extremadura, Mar\u00eda F\u00e9lix Tena, took the opportunity at the closing ceremony to call for the creation of a Chair in Agricultural and Livestock Law at the University of Extremadura, \u201cto make the most of the region\u2019s rural character and extensive knowledge of the sector\u201d. In this manner, she stated, \u201cwe will be able to go to Brussels with a practical and legal argument\u201d.<\/p>\n
Over the two-day course, speakers have explored the workings of agricultural insurance and atypical contracts in the agricultural and livestock sector. Discussions have also covered environmental crimes, the general outlook of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), climate change, and the energy transition.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This course was co-directed by Rafael Est\u00e9vez Benito, judge of Criminal Court No. 1 of C\u00e1ceres, and Juan Carlos Moreno Pi\u00f1ero, director of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation. It is also supported by the Notarial Association of Extremadura and the Association of Property, Commercial, and Movable Assets Registrars of Spain. Owing to the success in both participation and content of the two previous editions, the Ibero-American and European course on agricultural and livestock Law has now been incorporated into the continuous training programme of the General Council of the Judiciary.<\/p>\n
