<\/a><\/p>\nAs the 50th anniversary of the beginning of Spain\u2019s political transition to democracy is commemorated, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised the course \u201cPreparing Spain\u2019s Transition\u201d, which will take place from 9 to 11 July at the Monastery of San Jer\u00f3nimo de Yuste. This event is part of Campus Yuste, an educational programme included in the 26th edition of the University of Extremadura\u2019s International Summer\/Autumn Courses. <\/strong>(7\/07\/2025)<\/p>\n The course will analyse the background and development of this historic period, featuring professors and first-hand witnesses who will examine various international, political, economic, social, and cultural aspects of that historical juncture, which lies at the origin of our present.<\/p>\n Focusing on the main theme, the sessions will revolve around the transition of the national armies in Spain and Portugal, terrorism and its consequences, the role of the Spanish Church, the economy, and political consensus. These and other topics will be addressed by experts, politicians, and professors such as former socialist MP Eduardo Madina; Madrid MP and president of the Petitions Committee in the Congress of Deputies, Carlos Aragon\u00e9s; national spokesperson and deputy secretary of Culture of the Popular Party, Borja S\u00e9mper; Spanish ambassador Francisco Javier Rup\u00e9rez; and the cardinal archbishop emeritus of Madrid and former president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (1999\u20132005 and 2008\u20132014), Antonio Mar\u00eda Rouco Varela.<\/p>\n The course will be inaugurated by professor of Contemporary History at the University of Extremadura and member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste, Enrique Moradiellos; Jes\u00fas Conde, assistant to the Vice-Rectorate for University Extension of the University of Extremadura; and Pablo Hurtado, director general for External Action of the Regional Government of Extremadura and member of Yuste Foundation\u2019s Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n The nationalities of the grant recipients and online registrants include Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua and Portugal.<\/p>\n Yuste Foundation has reserved a number of places for those wishing to attend the courses in person without a grant. Interested individuals should send an email to campusyuste@fundacionyuste.org including their personal data and specifying the title of the course they wish to attend.<\/p>\n The Foundation also offers the possibility of following the courses online.
