{"id":5065,"date":"2015-01-26T17:02:52","date_gmt":"2015-01-26T17:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/?p=5065"},"modified":"2015-06-03T09:12:08","modified_gmt":"2015-06-03T09:12:08","slug":"according-to-nogales-the-doctoral-seminar-in-the-european-academy-os-yuste-foundation-shows-that-the-atlantic-is-an-ocean-that-stimulates-exchanges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/en\/according-to-nogales-the-doctoral-seminar-in-the-european-academy-os-yuste-foundation-shows-that-the-atlantic-is-an-ocean-that-stimulates-exchanges\/","title":{"rendered":"According to Nogales, the Doctoral Seminar in the European Academy os Yuste Foundation shows that the Atlantic is an ocean that &#8220;stimulates exchanges&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-5032 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0098-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0098\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0098-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0098-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0098-133x88.jpg 133w, https:\/\/www.fundacionyuste.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0098.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The Extremadura regional government\u00b4s Counselor for Education and Culture Trinidad Nogales Basarrate inaugurated the Charles V European Award &#8211; Jos\u00e9 Manuel Dur\u00e3oBarroso doctoral seminar entitled \u201cHistory, memory and European integration from the perspective of the European Union\u00b4s (EU) transatlantic relations\u201d held at the Royal Monastery of Yuste, headquarters of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation, from 26-28 January.<\/p>\n<p>In her view, Barroso has done well in choosing this theme because it shows that \u201cAtlantic waters do not separate two territories, but rather are favorable to all sorts of exchanges\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Others taking part in the inauguration included Benita Ferrero-Waldner, President of the EU-LAC Foundation and former Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy and Commissioner for Trade and European Neighborhood Policy during Jos\u00e9 Manuel Dur\u00e3oBarroso\u00b4s first term; the Director of the seminar and Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Extremadura, Enrique Moradiellos; the Director of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation Enrique Barrasa S\u00e1nchez, who welcomed the researchers; the Mayor of Jarandilla and President of the Local Action Group, V\u00edctorSoriaBre\u00f1a; the President of the La Vera County Council and Mayor of Villanueva de la Vera, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rodr\u00edguez Calzada; and the Mayor of Cuacos de Yuste, EulogioL\u00f3pez Moreno.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar is structured around the research undertaken by the ten doctorate students who have obtained a scholarship from the European Academy of Yuste Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Trinidad Nogales highlighted that the research themes contribute to strengthening \u201ccommercial, academic and cultural links\u201d between the European Union and the American continent. The Counselor also emphasized that the research papers presented in the multidisciplinary seminar are published by the prestigious Peter Lang academic publishing group, \u201cbecoming part of the scientific literature cherished by this Foundation\u201d. Mrs. Nogales congratulated the grant-holders and encouraged them to make the most of \u201cthis scientific and personal adventure to confront new challenges\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are two Extremadurans among the grant-holders presenting their research papers in the seminar: Rodrigo CalvoTornero and C\u00e9sar RinaSim\u00f3n. Mr.Calvo\u00b4s research focuses on analyzing pro-Europeanist stances among exiled Spanish Republicans in America. Mr.Rina\u00b4s research paper, which also adopts a historical perspective, is entitled \u201cIberism, Europeanism and Latin Americanism. Unionist projects and utopias in Europe during the age of nationalism (1808-1975)\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Eimys Ortiz Hern\u00e1ndez and Adri\u00e1n Dios Vicente both address commercial relations in their research, which focuses respectively on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership as a complementary tool to overcome mutual challenges in the Mediterranean region, and the internationalization process of Spanish power utilities over the past thirty years in Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>Katharina LuiseMeissener\u00b4s research focuses on analyzing the relations between the European Union, Brazil and Mercosur, and her paper is complemented by Kaiana Do Monte\u00b4s comparative study on the European Union and Mercosuranalyzing globalization as an element of regional integration.<\/p>\n<p>Marta Garc\u00eda Mato has studied the role of Spanish as a bridge for successful cooperation from a historical and sociological perspective; Jos\u00e9 Manuel Moreno Dom\u00ednguezhas analyzed EU-Latin America cooperation in the important area of communication and information.
