The Board of Trustees of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation, which met today at the offices of the President of the Government of Extremadura in M\u00e9rida, decided to extend the range of candidacies which can compete for the Carlos V European Award, opening it up to projects and institutions which support European integration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the course of the meeting, chaired by Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez Vara, the head of the regional executive and the Chairman of the Board, approval was given to the modification of the Foundation’s Articles of Association, in order to achieve better operational management and to expand the range of candidacies which can compete for the Carlos V European Award.<\/p>\n

The Board thus provides itself with the opportunity to reward projects, organizations and initiatives which, with their efforts, have contributed to the general understanding and enhancement of the cultural and historical values of Europe and\/or the unification of the European Union.<\/p>\n

The meeting also approved the activities and the annual accounts for 2014 and reported on the progress of the activities planned for 2015. Enrique Barrasa S\u00e1nchez, Director of the Foundation until now, stepped down from the position and, finally, a report was delivered on the current state of the call for entries for the tenth Carlos V European Award.<\/p>\n

The meeting was also attended, on behalf of the Government of Extremadura, by Pilar Blanco-Morales Limones, Minister of Finance and Public Administration, and Fernando Blanco Fern\u00e1ndez, General Secretary of the Presidency, as well as the following members of the Government of Extremadura who have taken office as trustees of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation: Jos\u00e9 Luis Navarro Ribera, Minister of the Economy and Infrastructure, M\u00aa Esther Guti\u00e9rrez Mor\u00e1n, Minister of Education and Employment, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Vergeles Blanca, Minister of Health and Social Policy, Isabel Gil Rosi\u00f1a, Spokesperson, Carlos Javier Rodr\u00edguez Jim\u00e9nez, Director of the Office of the Presidency, Miriam Garc\u00eda Cabezas, General Secretary of Culture, Rosa Balas Torres, General Manager of External Action, Francisco P\u00e9rez Urb\u00e1n, General Manager of Libraries, Museums and Cultural Heritage and Carmen N\u00fa\u00f1ez Cumplido, General Manager of Social Policy and Child and Family.<\/p>\n

It was also attended by the following trustees: Segundo P\u00edriz Dur\u00e1n, Rector of the University of Extremadura; Jo\u00e3o Manuel Ferreira Martins, First Secretary for Political Affairs of the Portuguese Embassy and Georg Diwald, Minister Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy.<\/p>\n

The Board of Trustees of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation is made up of representatives of the Government of Extremadura, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Government of Spain and the Governments of Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Luxembourg and Belgium. The University of Extremadura, Caja Duero-Caja Espa\u00f1a and Jacques Delors, the former President of the European Commission and a winner of the Carlos V European Award,\u00a0 also form part of it.<\/p>\n
