Edgar Morin es uno de los pensadores franceses m\u00e1s importantes de su generaci\u00f3n. Su formaci\u00f3n humanista (estudi\u00f3 historia, sociolog\u00eda, filosof\u00eda, geograf\u00eda y derecho en la Universidad de la Sorbona) le ha permitido reflexionar sobre todos los \u00e1mbitos sociales hasta crear uno de los compendios intelectuales europeos de mayor entidad.<\/p>

Es autor de textos sociol\u00f3gicos de gran influencia intelectual como 'El esp\u00edritu del tiempo' (1962), de ensayos sobre los problemas de la civilizaci\u00f3n de nuestra \u00e9poca, 'Para salir del siglo XX' (1981), 'Pensar Europa' (1987), \u00f3 'Tierra patria' (1993), 'Una pol\u00edtica de civilizaci\u00f3n' (1997). Ha reflexionado sobre la complejidad y el pensamiento complejo en 'La complejidad humana' (1994) y en el conjunto de obras elaboradas entre 1977 y 2004 con la denominaci\u00f3n de 'El M\u00e9todo' como nueva forma de pensar y conocer; los 6 volumens del 'El Metodo' constituyen su obra principal. En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os ha publicado textos de gran impacto sobre la comprensi\u00f3n del mundo actual como 'Los siete saberes necesarios para la educaci\u00f3n del futuro' (2000) o 'Tierra patria' (2002). Fue codirector del Centro de Estudios Transdisciplinarios (sociolog\u00eda-antropolog\u00eda-semiolog\u00eda) de l'\u00c9cole des Hautes \u00c9tudes en Sciences Sociales (1973-1989) en Francia. Destacan obras como 'El cine' o 'El hombre imaginario' (1956), 'Les Stars' (1957), 'El esp\u00edritu del tiempo' (1962), 'El esp\u00edritu del tiempo II' y 'La necrosis' (1976). Adem\u00e1s fue director de las revistas Arguments y Communications. Actualmente es director em\u00e9rito de investigaci\u00f3n en el CNRS (Centro Nacional para la Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica) y presidente de la Agencia Cultural Europea de la UNESCO.<\/p>
