\u00a0Sill\u00f3n Antonio Lucio Vivaldi <\/strong><\/p>

Alain Touraine naci\u00f3 en 1925 en Hermanville-sur-Mer, Francia. Realiz\u00f3 estudios en las universidades de Columbia, Chicago y Harvard; y fue investigador del Consejo Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n Franc\u00e9s hasta 1958. En 1956 fund\u00f3 el Centro de Estudios para la Sociolog\u00eda del Trabajo de la Universidad de Chile. En 1960 se convirti\u00f3 en investigador \"senior\" del 'Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes' (actualmente la prestigiosa Escuela de Altos Estudios de Ciencias Sociales de Par\u00eds), donde fund\u00f3 el Centro de An\u00e1lisis y de Intervenci\u00f3n Sociol\u00f3gicos (CADIS).<\/p>

Touraine es un f\u00e9rreo opositor a las pol\u00edticas neoliberales que se han implementado durante la d\u00e9cada del '90. En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, el autor, mediante los libros 'Cr\u00edtica a la modernidad' (1994) y 'Qu\u00e9 es la democracia' (1994), puso en el centro del debate la cuesti\u00f3n del sujeto y la democracia. Y elabora la idea de democracia como \"no solamente un conjunto de garant\u00edas institucionales, una libertad negativa. Es la lucha de los sujetos, en su cultura y en su libertad, contra la l\u00f3gica dominadora de los sistemas ...\". En esta concepci\u00f3n, la democracia debe tratar de seguir por dos caminos, por un lado se deben crear espacios para la participaci\u00f3n popular, y por el otro asegurar el respeto a las diferencias individuales y el pluralismo.<\/p>

Alain Touraine public\u00f3 cerca de veinte libros, adem\u00e1s de las obras mencionadas. Entre los m\u00e1s importantes se encuentran: 'Vida y muerte del Chile popular', 'Sociedades dependientes', 'Actores sociales y sistemas pol\u00edticos en Am\u00e9rica Latina', 'La evoluci\u00f3n del trabajo obrero en las f\u00e1bricas Renault' (1955), 'Sociolog\u00eda de la acci\u00f3n' (1965), 'Introducci\u00f3n a la sociolog\u00eda' (1978), 'El regreso del actor' (1982), 'Movimientos sociales de hoy: actores y analistas' (1990), Conocimiento e identidad. Voces de grupos culturales en la investigaci\u00f3n social (2004)y El mundo de las mujeres (Le monde des femmes, 2006).<\/p>

Investido doctor honoris causa en las universidades siguientes:<\/h3>

Ginebra (1988), Montreal (1990), Cat\u00f3lica de Lovaina (1992), La Paz (1995), Bolonia (1995), M\u00e9xico (1996), Santiago de Chile (1996), Quebec (1997), Men\u00e9ndez Pelayo (1997), C\u00f3rdoba (Argentina, 2000), Puebla (M\u00e9xico, 2001), Candido Mendes (Brasil) (2002), Roma (2003), J\u00ffvask\u00ffla (Finlandia, 2004), San Mart\u00edn (Argentina, 2005), Valpara\u00edso (2005), Bogot\u00e1 (2006), Universidad Oberta de Catalu\u00f1aa (2007) y\u00a0\u00a0 Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos de Lima (2008).<\/p>

En 2008,fue condecorado con el Premio Internacional de Pensamiento y Humanidades que otorga la Fundaci\u00f3n Crist\u00f3bal Gabarr\u00f3n.<\/p>
