Margarita Salas Falgueras<\/h2>

Margarita Salas Falgueras nace el 30 de noviembre de 1938 en Canero (Asturias). Licenciada y Doctora en Ciencias Qu\u00edmicas por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y realiz\u00f3 su trabajo postdoctoral en la Universidad de Nueva York bajo al direcci\u00f3n de Severo Ochoa. Trabaj\u00f3 en los laboratorios de Alberto Sols, en Madrid y de Severo Ochoa , en Nueva York, junto a su marido Eladio Vi\u00f1uela, tambi\u00e9n pionero de la biolog\u00eda molecular espa\u00f1ola<\/p>

De 1968 a 1992 fue profesora de Gen\u00e9tica Molecular en la Facultad de Qu\u00edmicas de la Universidad Complutense y, posteriormente , profesora de Investigaci\u00f3n del Centro Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas en el centro de Biolog\u00eda Molecular Severo Ochoa (CSIC-UAM) y directora de la l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n \"Replicaci\u00f3n y transcripci\u00f3n del ADN del bacteri\u00f3fago \u00c6 29\".<\/p>

Como reconocimiento a su carrera investigadora, se le han concedido numerosos premios cient\u00edficos y es doctora \"Honoris causa\" por varias universidades. Autora de cerca de 300 publicaciones en revistas y libros internacionales, y miembro de asociaciones como EMBO, Academia Europea, Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, F\u00edsicas y Naturales y American Academy of Microbiology. En 1994 recibi\u00f3 el Premio Jaime I de Investigaci\u00f3n y desde 1995 preside el Instituto de Espa\u00f1a. En 1999 la UNESCO la destaca como investigadora europea.<\/p>

El 4 de junio de 2003 se convierte en la primera mujer cient\u00edfica que se incorpora a la Real Academia Espa\u00f1ola.<\/p>
