Actualmente, es el director del Centre d\u2019\u00e9tudes et de recherches europ\u00e9ennes Robert Schuman en Luxemburgo y profesor de la Universidad de Lieja (c\u00e1tedra de Historia de Europa) y del Colegio de Europa en Brujas.<\/p>

Anteriormente, fue Director de la Biblioteca Nacional (1971-1983), Director del Centro Universitario de Luxemburgo (1984-1990) y Primer Consejero del Gobierno (1940-1996). Como persona ligada a la construcci\u00f3n europea, el profesor Trausch es presidente desde 1989 del \u201cGroupe de liaison del historiens aupr\u00e8s de la Commision des Communaut\u00e9s europ\u00e9ennes\u201d (grupo de expertos de car\u00e1cter consultivo); miembro de la \u201cCellule de Prospective\/Forward Studies Unit\u201d, ligada al gabinete de Jacques Santer, Presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n de las Comunidades Europeas (1995-1998); desde 1984, es secretario de la asociaci\u00f3n \u201cUniversit\u00e9 de l\u2019Europe\u201d, red de estudios universitarios.

Presidente desde 1992 del IERSE (Institut d\u2019\u00c9tudes et de Recherches sur les societ\u00e9s europ\u00e9ennes) en la Universidad de Lieja, miembro fundador de la \u201cAssociation pour l\u2019\u00c9tude de l\u2019Int\u00e9gration Europ\u00e9enne\u201d (1993); miembro del \u201cResearch Council\u201d del Instituto Europeo de Florencia (desde 1994) y Director Cient\u00edfico de la revista \u201cJournal of European Integration History\u201d (desde 1994).<\/p>

Desempe\u00f1a distintas responsabilidades en numerosos proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n, especialmente dedicados a la identidad europea, al proceso de construcci\u00f3n europea a trav\u00e9s de las instituciones, etc.<\/p>

Ha recibido las siguientes distinciones:<\/p>
