Abram de Swaan<\/h2>

\u00a0Sill\u00f3n Freud <\/strong><\/p>

Abram de Swaan ocupa la c\u00e1tedra de Sociolog\u00eda en la Universidad de Amsterdam desde 1973. Es presidente de la Escuela de Amsterdam de Investigaciones en Ciencias Sociales (ASSR), de la que ha sido uno de sus fundadores y director cient\u00edfico entre 1987 y 1987.<\/p>

De Swaan fue redactor de la revista cultural De Gids (fundada en 1837) entre 1969 y 1991. Hasta 1997 escribi\u00f3 un art\u00edculo semanal para el diario NRC\/Handelsblad.<\/p>

De Swaan obtuvo su titulaci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica en la Universidad de Amsterdam, donde concluy\u00f3 su doctorado (cum laude) en 1973 con su trabajo Coalition theories and cabinet formations, despu\u00e9s de haber cursado sus estudios de tercer ciclo en las universidades de Yale y Berkeley. Por su tesis doctoral, recibi\u00f3 en 1976 el premio bienal de la Sociedad Holandesa de las Ciencias.<\/p>

Durante los a\u00f1os 1973-1984 De Swaan sigui\u00f3 los cursos del Instituto Neerland\u00e9s de Psicoan\u00e1lisis y ejerci\u00f3 la psicoterapia psicoanal\u00edtica. Durante este per\u00edodo, public\u00f3 una serie de estudios que combinaban sociolog\u00eda y psicoan\u00e1lisis: estudios referentes a la consulta psicoterap\u00e9utica, a la profesi\u00f3n de terapeuta, a la gesti\u00f3n de la angustia en hospitales, oncolog\u00eda, la agorafobia como sustituto ps\u00edquico de la prohibici\u00f3n social y la represi\u00f3n sobre las j\u00f3venes en el siglo XIX, y sobre el deslizamiento de la gesti\u00f3n relacional por mandato a la gesti\u00f3n por negociaci\u00f3n (The management of normality, 1989). En 1988 apareci\u00f3 un libro sobre la \u201csocio-g\u00e9nesis del Estado Providente\u201d, acerca del proceso de colectivizaci\u00f3n en materia de Salud, Educaci\u00f3n y Asistencia, desde el alba de la Modernidad hasta nuestros d\u00edas, en Europa y en Estados Unidos (In care of the state, premio del Kring van Nederlandse politicologen).<\/p>

Durante los a\u00f1os 90, De Swaan public\u00f3 una serie de art\u00edculos y de libros sobre aspectos transnacionales de la cultura popular, la pol\u00edtica social y las rivalidades ling\u00fc\u00edsticas (Perron Nederland, 1992; Net lied van de kosmopoliet, 1993; Social policy beyond borders, 1994; The emergent world system of languages, 1993). Sus libros m\u00e1s recientes son De mensenmaatschappij, 1996, una introducci\u00f3n sint\u00e9tica a las Ciencias Sociales, y Blijven kijken, 1997, compilaci\u00f3n de piezas breves escritas para el diario NRC.<\/p>

En el transcurso de los a\u00f1os, el profesor De Swaan ha sido profesor de las becas Fulbright (1982, Columbia University, New York), profesor de la beca Grotius (1989, New School for Social Research, New York), profesor en la c\u00e1tedra Luigi Einaudi de Estudios Internacionales (1992, Cornell University, Ithaca, N. Y.), director asociado en la Maison des Sciences Sociales (1992), profesor invitado en Columbia University (1993, N. Y.), Paris I-Sorbonne (1994, 1996), ha desempe\u00f1ado la c\u00e1tedra de la Uni\u00f3n Europea en la Universidad Eotvos Lorand de Budapest (1995).<\/p>

En estos \u00faltimos a\u00f1os ha sido elegido por sus colegas como el soci\u00f3logo m\u00e1s influyente y respetado en los Pa\u00edses Bajos y, siguiendo las estad\u00edsticas, se encuentra entre los soci\u00f3logos m\u00e1s citados fuera de su pa\u00eds.<\/p>

De Swaan es miembro de la Academia Real Neerlandesa de las Ciencias, del Consejo cient\u00edfico internacional del Instituto de estudios de la educaci\u00f3n y de la pol\u00edtica social de Par\u00eds, del Comit\u00e9 internacional de evaluaci\u00f3n de la Maison des Sciences de l\u2019Homme, de la Facultad externa del Instituto para la pol\u00edtica y la investigaci\u00f3n del Bienestar Social de Viena y del Consejo cient\u00edfico de la revista Critique Internationale.<\/p>

Su \u00faltima publicaci\u00f3n es una compilaci\u00f3n de ensayos, Do draagbare De Swaan.<\/p>
