Antonio Lopez<\/h2>

\u00a0Sill\u00f3n Marco Tulio Cicer\u00f3n <\/strong><\/p>

Antonio L\u00f3pez, maestro de la pintura realista y considerado un\u00e1nimemente como uno de los pintores espa\u00f1oles m\u00e1s universales, naci\u00f3 en Tomelloso (Ciudad Real), el 6 de enero de 1939.<\/p>

Animado por su t\u00edo, tambi\u00e9n pintor, comenz\u00f3 a pintar a los trece a\u00f1os, aunque a los doce ya dibujaba l\u00e1minas y copiaba reproducciones de pintura que ve\u00eda en las revistas. Desde entonces hasta hoy, con una dedicaci\u00f3n plena al arte pl\u00e1stico, ha creado una destacada obra --170 \u00f3leos, 200 dibujos y una veintena de esculturas-- que le ha acreditado como uno de los pintores m\u00e1s cotizados en el mundo art\u00edstico internacional. Tras permanecer algunos a\u00f1os en un seminario religioso, en 1949, claras ya sus aptitudes para la pintura, se traslada a Madrid y cursa estudios en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios y en la de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, en la que ser\u00eda profesor de la asignatura de Colorido en 1964. Al acabar sus estudios viaja por Italia, Grecia y Francia.

Su obra, en la que hay ciertas dosis de melancol\u00eda y de tristeza testimonial, se caracteriza por un sentido investigador de lo que es la realidad. Clasificado como pintor ultrarrealista, Antonio L\u00f3pez aporta un conocimiento mayor del color como sustancia real, un sentido preciso del dibujo y, sobre todo, un lenguaje de formas capaz de integrar dibujo y color. En repetidas ocasiones se ha declarado profundo admirador de la obra de Vel\u00e1zquez.<\/p>

Pinta con una gran lentitud --no hace mucho se expuso su cuadro \"Madrid-Sur\", que empez\u00f3 en 1965--, fruto de su necesidad de plasmar en el lienzo la infinidad de sensaciones que le produce la contemplaci\u00f3n del objeto dibujado. \"Cuando est\u00e1s pintando por ejemplo una calle, lo que est\u00e1s viendo es tan extraordinariamente impresionante que a m\u00ed, desde luego, me cuesta much\u00edsimo trasladar una parte de aquello. Eso es lo que me hace tardar tanto. Yo no puedo resolver todo ese espect\u00e1culo con rapidez\".<\/p>

Muchos de sus cuadros son retocados en m\u00faltiples ocasiones hasta que los considera definitivamente terminados. Seg\u00fan sus propias palabras, \"una obra nunca se acaba, sino que se llega al l\u00edmite de las propias posibilidades\".<\/p>

La obra de Antonio L\u00f3pez ha participado en m\u00e1s de cincuenta exposiciones colectivas y en media docena de exposiciones individuales. La primera gran antol\u00f3gica de su obra tuvo lugar en Albacete en 1985, y le siguieron otras grandes muestras internacionales en Bruselas --dentro del festival Europalia-- o Nueva York.<\/p>

En 1983, le fue concedida la Medalla de Oro de Bellas Artes y el Premio Pablo Iglesias. La Universidad Internacional \"Men\u00e9ndez Pelayo\" de Santander le rindi\u00f3 un homenaje en ese mismo a\u00f1o con una exposici\u00f3n colectiva de su obra, si\u00e9ndole impuesta con tal motivo la medalla de dicha Universidad.<\/p>

Representante prestigioso del realismo contempor\u00e1neo espa\u00f1ol, es artista exclusivo de la Galer\u00eda Marlborough de Nueva York desde 1970. Junto con T\u00e0pies y Chillida, es el \u00fanico artista espa\u00f1ol representado en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Bruselas. En 1985 recibi\u00f3 el Premio Pr\u00edncipe de Asturias de las Artes. En 2009, recibi\u00f3 el Premio Penagos de Dibujo, que reconoce la trayectoria de un artista vivo que en su carrera haya dedicado una especial atenci\u00f3n al dibujo.<\/p>
