Ursula Lehr es una de las m\u00e1s relevantes representantes de la Gerontolog\u00eda europea. De hecho, la fundaci\u00f3n y creaci\u00f3n de la investigaci\u00f3n sobre el envejecimiento en Alemania est\u00e1 fuertemente vinculada al nombre y a las investigaciones de Ursula Lehr.<\/p>

Las investigaciones de Ursula Lehr han propiciado una nueva perspectiva del envejecimiento humano e inspirado numerosos trabajos te\u00f3ricos y emp\u00edricos sobre el proceso de toda una vida del envejecimiento normal. Ursula Lehr fue una de las primeras eruditas que batall\u00f3 en pro de abandonar el modelo de envejecimiento como un proceso principalmente caracterizado por las p\u00e9rdidas y el declive.

Como una predecesora de la que m\u00e1s tarde ser\u00eda la popular psicolog\u00eda de desarrollo a lo largo de la vida, Ursula Lehr pudo demostrar que el proceso de envejecimiento implica ambas, tanto p\u00e9rdidas como ganancias, y deber\u00eda ser interpretado desde una perspectiva de desarrollo. Junto al profesor Hans Thomae, Lehr dirigi\u00f3 el Estudio Longitudinal sobre Envejecimiento de Bonn, que ha inspirado la metodolog\u00eda y la teor\u00eda de la investigaci\u00f3n gerontol\u00f3gica europea de muchas maneras.<\/p>

En 1990 inici\u00f3 la planificaci\u00f3n de otro estudio longitudinal en Alemania, el Estudio Longitudinal Interdisciplinar sobre el Desarrollo Adulto, llamado a influir en el futuro desarrollo de la metodolog\u00eda y de la teor\u00eda de la gerontolog\u00eda europea. Ursula Lehr ha escrito numerosos libros, entre los que sobresalen manuales b\u00e1sicos como Psicolog\u00eda del Envejecimiento y Mujer y Trabajo, que han sido traducidos a diversas lenguas, y realizado m\u00e1s de 750 contribuciones para manuales y publicaciones cient\u00edficas.<\/p>

Ha contribuido a la creaci\u00f3n de c\u00e1tedras en gerontolog\u00eda en las universidades alemanas, a la creaci\u00f3n de organizaciones gerontol\u00f3gicas y a la difusi\u00f3n del conocimiento gerontol\u00f3gico y su transmisi\u00f3n a la pr\u00e1ctica pol\u00edtica, manifestada en una dilatada experiencia: en 1988 ocup\u00f3 la cartera de Ministra Federal de Juventud, Familia, Mujeres y Sanidad, como miembro del Parlamento Alem\u00e1n (Deutscher Bundestag) entr\u00f3 a formar parte del Comit\u00e9 de Educaci\u00f3n y Ciencia y del Comit\u00e9 de Familia y Ciudadanos Senior. Ha sido presidenta de la Sociedad Alemana de Gerontolog\u00eda y Geriatr\u00eda y ha recibido muchos reconocimientos, no s\u00f3lo en Alemania, tales como el Premio Max-B\u00fcrger por sus publicaciones o el Premio G\u00fcnther-Buch a la investigaci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica b\u00e1sica.<\/p>
