1959-1969: miembro del Parlamento Europeo, ocupando puestos de Vicepresidente del grupo de los liberales, Presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n de los Pa\u00edses en v\u00edas de desarrollo, Presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n paritaria de la Asociaci\u00f3n CEE-EAMA, Vicepresidente de la Comisi\u00f3n Jur\u00eddica.<\/p>

1959-1961: Secretario General del Partido Democr\u00e1tico de Luxemburgo.<\/p>

1961-1980: Presidente del Partido Democr\u00e1tico de Luxemburgo.<\/p>

1963-1969: durante estos a\u00f1os, jefe de la Oposici\u00f3n en el gobierno de Luxemburgo.<\/p>

1970-1982: Presidente de la Internacional Liberal.<\/p>

1975-1976: Presidente de la trig\u00e9sima sesi\u00f3n extraordinaria de la Asamblea General de la ONU.<\/p>

1976-1980: Presidente Fundador de la Federaci\u00f3n de los liberales y dem\u00f3cratas europeos.<\/p>

1968-1974: Ministro de Asuntos Exteriores y Ministro de Comercio Exterior en un gobierno de coalici\u00f3n cristiano-social\/dem\u00f3crata; ocupa igualmente los puestos de Ministro de la Funci\u00f3n P\u00edblica, de la Educaci\u00f3n F\u00edsica y Deportes.<\/p>

1974-1979: Presidente del Gobierno, Ministro de Estado y Ministro de Asuntos Exteriores en un gobierno liberal\/socialista; a partir de 1977 ocupa igualmente los puestos de Ministro de la Econom\u00eda Nacional y de las Clases Medias.<\/p>

1979-1980: Vicepresidente del gobierno, Ministro de Asuntos Exteriores, de Comercio Exterior y de Cooperaci\u00f3n, Ministro de la Econom\u00eda Nacional y de las Clases Medias, Ministro de Justicia en un gobierno de coalici\u00f3n cristiano-social\/dem\u00f3crata. Durante estos a\u00f1os de gobierno, preside en cuatro ocasiones los Consejos de Ministros de la comunidad, afianza la presidencia de la UEO, del Consejo de Europa y la presidencia de honor de la OTAN.<\/p>

1981-1985: Presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n de las Comunidades Europeas. Doctor \u201cHonoris Causa\u201d de las universidade sde Aix (Francia), Louvain (B\u00e9lgica), Graz (Austria), Miami University (Estados Unidos), Londres (Reino Unido), Torino (Italia), Urbino (Italia), Dublin (Irlanda), Saarbrucken (Alemania), Li\u00e8ge (B\u00e9lgica), Sacred Heart (Estados Unidos).<\/p>

1977: Premio Robert Schuman.<\/p>

1985: Presidente de la Banca Internacional en Luxemburgo, S.A. Vicepresidente, Director General de CLT Multi Media. Presidente del Movimiento Europeo. Presidente de PanEuroLife. Miembro del Comit\u00e9 Jean Monnet. Miembro del Comit\u00e9 de Acci\u00f3n para la Uni\u00f3n Monetaria de Europa.<\/p>

1988: Gran Premio de la Academia de Ciencias Morales y Pol\u00edticas (Francia).<\/p>

1987-1993: Presidente Director General de CLT Multi Media.<\/p>

1994: Presidente de CLT Multi Media. Miembro de diferentes consejos de administraci\u00f3n y de \u201cinternational advisory boards\u201d.<\/p>
