1ST IBERO-AMERICAN SESSIONS ON COMMUNITY SOCIAL WORK
Badajoz, 28-29 November 2024
The Official College of Social Work of Badajoz, in collaboration with the General Council of Social Work, has organised the 1st Ibero-American Sessions on Community Social Work, which will take place on 28 and 29 November at the Financial Headquarters of Cajalmendralejo in Badajoz. The aim is to reflect on and share experiences regarding the Community Social Work model, which is recognised for its significant potential to transform our communities. These sessions are supported by the Badajoz Provincial Council, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, the City Council of Badajoz, the Regional Government of Extremadura, and Caja Almendralejo.
Community Social Work is presented as a key strategy to address social complexities. It provides us with tools to strengthen social fabric, promote citizen participation, and empower communities. However, despite progress in our profession, this approach still faces significant challenges in its visibility and implementation in Spain.
This model encourages us to move beyond individual intervention, focusing on the collective and creating more equitable and supportive environments. Integrating a community-based approach into our professional practice, regardless of our field, can have a positive impact on people’s lives, social cohesion, and social emancipation.
Thus, the Official College of Social Work of Badajoz and the General Council consider it essential to raise the visibility of and promote this model of intervention. Only through the exchange of knowledge and experiences can we consolidate community social work as a fundamental tool in our daily work. The sessions will be a platform for building alliances, sharing best practices, and creating a future where community intervention is a cornerstone of social work across the country.
We look forward to seeing you!
