1ST CULTURAL CONFERENCE OF ACAUMEX THE UNIVERSALISATION OF SPAIN UNDER CHARLES V
Cuacos de Yuste, 21 May 2025
On the 21st of May, the Cultural Association of Former and Current Students of Cáceres from the University of Seniors of Extremadura (ACAUMEX) will hold its 1st Cultural Conference, an event envisioned to become an annual tradition. These inaugural conferences serve both as the culminating expression of a year full of activities and as a catalyst for the group’s evident interests and enthusiasm, clear signs of the vitality that defines this young Association. Through this event, ACAUMEX proudly showcases its cultural trajectory throughout the academic year, presenting the conference as the crowning achievement that closes its programme of activities.
In organising these conferences, ACAUMEX has considered —and will continue to consider— its regional identity by selecting different representative locations throughout the Autonomous Community of Extremadura for each annual event. The topic will be shaped by the identity and significance of the chosen site. This first edition will be held in the town of Cuacos de Yuste, in the region of La Vera, and will be dedicated to the historical figure of king and emperor Charles V, who chose the Hieronymite Monastery of Yuste, located in Cuacos, as his final residence after abdicating the throne.
