Yuste Foundation Announces the Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses (30/12/2025)

With the aim of supporting the development of research work and encouraging reflection and the exchange of ideas among university students, researchers and professionals on Ibero-American and European issues, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation hereby announces the Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses, endowed with a prize of 3,000 euros and the publication of the winning work in the Foundation’s book series “Tesis Doctorales”.

Doctoral theses addressing relations between Spain, Portugal or Europe as a whole and Ibero-America, and vice versa, from a historical, cultural, social, scientific, economic or any other field of study perspective, are eligible to apply for this research award.

Eligible theses must be written in Spanish, English or Portuguese; must have been defended in Portugal, Spain or in any Ibero-American or European country within the two years prior to the publication of the relevant call; must have been awarded the highest grade established under the regulations in force at the time of their defence; and must be unpublished.

With regard to the assessment criteria, literary and scientific quality will be taken into account, with particular emphasis on aspects such as language, creativity, originality and the extent to which the thesis meets the aims and objectives of the Foundation, among others. The authors of the five doctoral theses that obtain the highest scores in the quality assessment stage will proceed to the second stage, which will consist of the defence of the doctoral thesis and responses to the questions put by the assessment commission.

The maximum period for resolving and notifying the award decision shall be three months from the end of the application period. Once this period has elapsed without notification of the decision, the award may be deemed void.
