The doctoral thesis La Constitución de Cádiz y la modernidad política en Cuba: actores, prácticas y conceptos (1810-1823), by Cuban Alain J. Santos Fuentes, was awarded the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation’s 2024 Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses. The award ceremony took place within the framework of the 5th International Congress “Relations Between Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean: Economy and International Conflicts”, which was held on April 10th at the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe.

The jury of the 17th edition of the Carlos V European Award, granted by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, decided to award the prize to Mario Draghi “because his leadership at the helm of the European Central Bank implementing decisive and risky measures managed, in the midst of the recession in the European economy, to maintain the strength of the euro and the autonomy of the ECB, as well as to save the single currency allowing Europe to emerge strengthened from the aforementioned crisis”.

The European Commission awarded the 2023 European Heritage Label to the Monastery of Yuste, thus recognising its importance in the creation of present-day Europe and because it is “a living monument that captures part of the continent’s memory”.

The director general for External Action of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Pablo Hurtado, inaugurated the “5th International Congress on Relations Between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. Economy and International Conflicts” today, which was held at the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe (Cáceres, Spain).
