The journal “Pliegos de Yuste” reaches its twentieth edition already and it is perhaps the most special of all because its gestation and publication lie in two different worlds. This volume includes the presentations from the course “The European Integration Process. The European Union and Today’s Challenges: Nationalism, Globalisation, Terrorism, Misinformation and Immigration”, held at the Royal Monastery of Yuste from 10 to 12 July 2019.
The world was then one and today, when those spoken out words acquire the permanence of the printed letter, it is a very different one. We were then far from guessing what today are certainties: that another perhaps greater challenge was yet to come and that the challenges we were analysing would take on a new dimension a few months later.
The reflections that make up this book maintain the strength of the moment in which they were said, but the reader will know how to sift them in the light of the events that followed.
